I have heard rumor from a lot of people saying that the best mf for a sorc in which you find the best stuff is at 285, now I havn't tried this out but I was just wondering if it was true or not.

No, this is wrong. The more mf the better. However, keep in mind that you still need to be able to kill.

i dont know about that. i had a sorc that had 500 something and didnt find anything. i have a hammerdin that has 285 mf and i have already found 2 coa's 2 hoz, griffons, and a bunch of other gear that is pretty nice. so i dont know you be the judge. i mean i think i am just getting lucky, but you cant sit there and say that one is better then the other. i think mfin' is nothing but luck.

mf increases that chance items will drop. this does not mean you will always get godlies if you have a large amount of mf. just means thenings are more likely to fall.

No. The more the better. Previously a bug resulted a penalty for more than a certain percentage, but this has been fixed.

And Siris, this may be what you are saying (not sure), but I thought magic find doesn't really factor in as to how much (quantity) will drop, but it will instead increase the odds of the particular item that is dropping in being a magic/rare/set/unique item.

Personally, I have pretty much viewed magic find as something more out of luck than a particular item. As you can see from some examples here some people have low magic find and find great items, because magic find is a chance in finding better items off your drops - you may be able to be lucky without that extra chance.

Yes, the higher the mf the higher chance every item that drops will be magic. While it increases odds for getting Uniques, it also increases the odds of getting just magic and rares. The chance of getting the "godlies" is all random. You could get an soj with 0 mf and an soj with 4238403285034850345 mf, it just all depends where you go hunt. For the most part, hammerdins are able to kill higher lvl things easier for runs, so hammerdins generally find the better "godlies".

plain in simple imo the % of mf just increases the chance of a unique dropping doesnt mean a godly dropping but a unique when u check logs and whatnot if say u drop a set diadem it just means that there was a chance about 10% that it couldve dropped unique the mf just increases these chances so yes it is about luck of the drop but a good amount of mf will still help but never sarifice the abil;ity to kill sufficiently for higher mf

if u doubt that mf will help u find better items, go on single player and make a char with 909999999999 mf and then go kill some bosses. And if u wanna see if that theory of 285mf is right do the same thing xcept do it with 285mf..

Mf is fake, I hacked a chara with a huge amount of mf, over 50,000 and found nothing. My best drop was a freakin' GA!!!!

The rumor that you heard is complete bullshit. At one point in 1.08, could have been early 1.09, there was a bug, meaning that if you went past a certain point in MF, such as 300 or so, it would actually decrease your mf. That was rapidly fixed by Blizzard. As was the act2 minions bug. As was the meteor bug. As was the item fountain glitch and all of those other glitches/bugs that noobs on bnet get turned on by.

500 is too much mf.. keep it between 300-400
ive found 2 bks, 1 soj, and a low hoz, 2 skilled 20fcr barb circ, and a bunch of stuff.. to be exact.. my mf is 374% hammerdin.. 500 mf wont get u anything but mostly violet/blue items...

Dude shut the **** up, seriously. You can never have too much MF, it's just a question of balance between speed and drop. My MF sorc has ~600% MF and can kill very efficiently.

OMG..you people are so stupid. MF increases the chance at which godly items drop. Even if you have a 99% chance of a godly item dropping, you could still end up with shit. I have 500 MF and i get godly drops all the time. I can go through Nightmare CS and every run i get at least 8 high uniques. So you people are stupid.
