D2godly Wrote:OMG..you people are so stupid. MF increases the chance at which godly items drop. Even if you have a 99% chance of a godly item dropping, you could still end up with shit. I have 500 MF and i get godly drops all the time.

Bullshit.

D2godly Wrote:So you people are stupid.

He was asking a question. He is not stupid because he has not played this game for as long as he has.

D2godly Wrote:MF increases the chance at which godly items drop.

Wrong.

D2godly Wrote:Even if you have a 99% chance of a godly item dropping, you could still end up with shit.

You cannot have a 99% chance for a godly drop.

Well i dont know if this will help much but i have the most luck when i change my Mf% around . each night in 1.10 with my bot i used to alter my mf by 20%- 200% which i found was more succussful than keeping just 500% or so
You said so much without ever parting your lips.

Magic Find does not affect Rune drops.

EDIT: Whoops, my bad. Thought you said 8 high runes for some reason. Anyway I'll leave that comment there 'cause its useful knowledge.

acually i heard about 300 mf is good but keep in mind that a full game is best for mfing i found p gheeds from a norm andy run lol (luck mab?) idk point is u can have too much mf

Generally speaking, 300-400 will be a nice balance between efficiency and mf, or so I hear.

i think 500 mf is a nice ammount to have on your sorc

yeah i think if you increase 500+ mf the blue items would drop way too much that pushes away the unique items? that was how it worked i think, and around 300 it is balanced more and unique items drop more often. maybe its math and when you get 600 mf unique drops more but if you have 1k mf you get more blue items? thats what i thought all these times and i have been very succesful with a 300mf hammerdin.

most of you are complete retards, enough what youve "heard" bullshit.

i have a sorc that can have over 700mf with one set of gear and ~550 with another set with more dmg. MF is magic find, the higher you have to better chance u have to find better magic stuff. LISTEN. each monster depending on its level has a certain chance to drop each item. magic find increases this chance. THIS IS QUOTED STRAIGHT FROM BLIZZARD.

Blizzard on MF
Quote: "% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item" can provide a significant increase in the number of Unique, Rare, and Set Items you find. Players that wish to find "good" Rare Items, and more Set and Unique Items will want to invest heavily in this magical bonus. Just remember, you can never have enough % Better Chance. Increasing your Magic Find Percentage will always help you.
"% Better Chance of Getting Magic Item" does not increase the Chances of getting an Exceptional Item but if you do roll an Exceptional Item the chance of that being Magical/Rare will increase.
How do Chance to Find Magic Items really work?
If you find an item that gives 20% Better Chance of Getting a Magic Item, and a Monster has a 2% chance to drop a Magic Item, you will now have 2.4% Chance of getting that Magic Item.
I have a 100% better chance of getting magic items but I don’t get them all the time why?
This is base upon the monsters chance to drop an item. With a 100% better chance of getting a magic item, a monster with a 1% chance of dropping a magical item would have that random chance go up to 2%.
What exactly are "Magic Items"
Magic Items in this definition include Magic Items, Set Items, Unique Items and Rare Items.

Is there a cap on Magic Find?
No.
Is there an ideal % Magic Find Number?
No. The more the better. Previously a bug resulted a penalty for more than a certain percentage, but this has been fixed.
I heard if you get Magic Find high enough you get all Sets and Uniques
No. This was the case in previous versions due to a bug but that has been corrected (sorry!).
Will Magic Find work on Barrels, Chests, or other non Monsters that drop items?
Yes.
Does Magic Find work on bosses?
Yes.
Will Magic Find work on Runes?
No. It has no bearing on the number of Runes you'll find (you don't find more magic items and less Runes for example, nor is there a greater chance of getting a Rune or a better Rune, etc.).
Will Magic Find work to increase finding Magic Items with the Barbarian's Find Item Skill?
Yes.
Will Magic Find help getting better Items from Gambling?
No.
Will Magic Find work with Minions and Hirelings?
Yes. When you make a kill, you get the Magic Find % of yourself only. When a Hireling gets a kill, it uses the combined Magic Find of the Hireling and you.
How does Magic Find work in a Party?
The chance to get a Magic Item will be determined on the player that makes the killing blow on the monster. If the party has several items that give a Better Chance of Getting Magic Item, they are not added together, whichever party member makes the killing blow will determine the chance of getting a Magic Item. For the best results, have the player in the party that has the best Chance of Getting a Magic Item finish off all the monsters.
Magic Find Returns
While there is no cap on Magic Find there is a diminishing return formula (that is not available) that becomes active over 10% Magic Find for Rare, Set, and Unique Items (But Not Regular Violet (Blue) Magic Items). This does not mean that it's useless to get over 10% but it does mean that the benefits drop off as you get higher and higher Magic Find. The most Magic Find is still better than less Magic Find.
Maxing Magic Find
So you want to be the king or queen of Magic Find? A common comment is with a lot of Magic Find you'll not be able to kill anything. Some classes such as spell casters (Sorceress, Necromancer, Elemental Druid) are more capable of sacrificing all equipment for Magic Find. You may wish to create "Magic Find Characters" to "farm" or find items then use those items on other characters.

those of u saying ur hammerdin with lower mf finds better stuff all the time, well mayb its because ur killing faster(therefore gettin more kills in), mayb u are killing higher level monsters (ex: hell andy has alot better chance at dropping good items then does any super unique in nightmare or normal). it all depends on the monster you are killing. low lvl monsters can only drop low lvl items. some uniques items that are very high lvl can only be dropped by very high lvl monsters (ex: nihlathak and baal are both lvl 99, therefore can drop any item in the game, while hell meph and andy are not lvl 99, there are a few items both of them CAN NOT drop no matter what)
the higher lvl the monster, the higher level of items it can drop. this is why hell andy/meph drops better gear on average than nm andy/meph

if u still dont understand that concept here is as straight forward as it gets. if you are lookin for an arachs, but you are mf'ing in nightmare, the only monster in nm that can drop an arach is baal and its a very very low chance. however if you are mfing in hell, meph is a much higher level and has a better chance at dropping it.

i used to have charts that show the chance of finding each unique item from each superunique monster in norm/nm/hell modes however i cant seem to find it. if i do i will post it. but keep in mind these probabilities are like 0.000005% chances for unique items to drop...lol.
