So, how do you guys feel about racism? Do you think that it's total bullshit that a black kid has a better chance of getting aid for college simply because he's black? I read a chain thingy that went around My Space a while back and I thought I'd share some of the points it made.

If we had a white history month we'd be racist.
If you say black power then you're a strong willed individual, if I say white power then I'm a racist.
If we had a united whites college fun we'd be racist.

And so the message continues on with things like that but I'm sure you get the point. The fact of the matter is that, yes, we were kind of jerks during the whole slave trade thing but there are no shackles on your hands and nobody whipping your back. If you're being fired at work it's not because your boss is racist...it's because you were doing a shitty job.

It's a bit racist for a black person to get better college aid because, that's like showing sympathy because one is handicapped, but they aren't.

I remember having this conversation back in my Junior year, my AP teacher spent like a week talking about this type of debate. He said that a White Male is the most discriminated person on the Earth. Test questions on the SAT or AP tests don't have Sports questions because Males tend to do better on them, yet there are plenty of questions that are better towards women. Every Minority has it's special funding and aid programs like you stated but whites don't. You just gotta accept how the world works : / (Also, I'm not racist just trying to remember how my old AP teacher told it)

Well here is South Africa we have afirmative action.... I was actually kicked out of my varsity for failing one subject but i knew black people that had failed all there subjects and they were allowed to stay and still keep there funding... for me that is a bit unfair especially since i was one year away from finishing my degree.

Also i saw black guys pass my program courses and yet they don't even know what the #include statement does in C++... I am not really angry though I am more hurt than anything, seeing that i had nothing to do with the pain they were caused and also for the fact that they are no longer being hurt.

Funny thing is I have intelligent black friends who even say that, that is messed up.

Yea racism(Apartheid - what segregation was called in this country), but two wrongs do not make a right.

Uhm, I think that's total bull. It shouldn't matter what race,religion,color,anything you are, it should be based upon your intelligence.

Come on. Im 14 years old, and I atleast know this. I get good grades, and don't do a lick of work.
All advanced classes, and don't do my homework in Any of my classes, and im rocking A's and B's.
yet, I see my black friend printiss failing tests, cussing at teachers and not doing work and hes rocking a c? That's bullshit.
Also, there are lower standards for mexicans and black people for passing grades. IF a black person or mexican gets like 40 wrong and a white person gets 35, the black person can pass and the white person can't.
Sure, it may be harder, but wouldn't you get more pride out of saying
"I made it despite my troubles"
then saying
"Thank god the school system sucks"
...

Uhm...me no likey topic. But ill put some info into it. I am not racist at all and will never be. This whole world is so messed up by it and should not be supported. Its not about he failed me or the black kids are stupid so they pass. The smart ones make it in whatever they choose no matter what. Just takes the balls and modivation to do it. The point is that minorities are being babied now. Some of them had hardships in the past but they don't have them anymore yet they still claim things are unfair for them when they in fact have an advantage over whites. Did you know some companies have policies that make it so they are REQUIRED to have a certain number of minorities working for them at all times? Remember American History X? The conversation they had at the table about how two black cops were hired not because they were the best choice but because they were black...would you want an even number of blacks to whites on the police force or a force full of compitent and capable officers?

Yea your right Spoon.. here in South Africa we have the ANC youth here mainly of black members(ANC is the ruleing party here) at every rmeeting they had at campus they were always preaching how they are still suffering and how they need more afirmative action and preach how the white man has made them suffer.

Makes me sick really.. and what about poor me i am actually part of a minority getting stepped on, on a daily basis something which the ANC youth have no problem with it.

Ive said this before. But in this country, We can't even keep our own churches due to low funding, Yet we openly give out money for building mosques(sp?).

i completely agree with the statement that they are being babied now a days. From my observations on where i went to high school and the area i live in, it seems that the minorities generally take advantage of many of the government programs available. We have a lot of gov't subsidised housing that is all occupied by minorities who feel that because they were discriminated for "hundreds of years" that they should be given everything. I really hate the fact that i pay into taxes for unemployment, ss and such for ppl to use who haven't worked a day yet. I've already paid 4000 this year in taxes to support those who don't feel they need a job. I wasn't given scholarships for college because i'm not a minority nor was I an outstanding athlete. So now i have to work 40 hours a week and go to school to pay for it all.

i think that to give minorities such a helping hand is even more racist by implying that we all come from poverty and cant make it on our own without a hand from the white man. quotas piss me off because when it comes to such things as medical school and other professions, skill is skill. if all medical students were white, i would have no problem with that at all as long as they were all the top candidates and were picked based on merit. if they were all black, i wouldnt not have a problem either because the best are the best. what grinds my gears is when we have 100, let's say...white students who are just top notch students. there also 80 black students vying for the same spots but are less qualified. it is wrong and disgusting to me for them to only admit 80 black or white students and let there be 20 "black" spots that only go to blacks regardless of whether or not there are more qualified whites.
i am not a racist but it seems to me that today's america isnt anti-racist. it's pro-black

I think someone else siad it best, but it's in another thread so i'll edit to fit my needs. Bottom line is that those who were alive back then were taught that that was a way of life that they deserved to be slaves, as a matter of fact, you'll find history books say that people when preaching that slavery was good in God's eyesight. And after the abolishment and such, people were still bitter and you know how kids pick up on resentment and such, and are brainwashed by their parent's rambling.(hope that was a complete thought, off to find that qoute, i think it was DCM)

I was NOT greatly influenced by the church when I was small, so I have been able to think clearly. All my close friends that listen to my arguments, now that they are able to learn things for themselves instead of being force-fed information, have begun to doubt their faith as well.

Ok, then we'll cut off wellfare and subsidized housing and let the minorities these fend for themselves. Think that'll be a good wake up call? I know not all minorities live in subsidized housing and off of wellfare so we should also cut college funds based on ethnicity, and don't call me a prick because I'd be losing my Native American fund as well.
