Smiter Weapon HELP

Now that a Phoenix shield's damage +350-400 ( I might be wrong on the numbers... I didn't play since November), I suppose it will add damage to Smite just like Grief. So, does it mean it might be even better than Exile/Upped Herald of Zakarum ( well, you don't have the Life Tap, but you get Redemption, and while you don't get the basic resists on every Hoz, you could choose to make it on a shield with high res )?
