I know this is nothing new, but I'm kind of new to making paladin characters, and I thought an avenger sounded like it would be fun, and probably a strong character. I have looked through many guides on here...I just wanted to get a few opinions on how this build should be done, and how good is it for PVP? for PVM? Best equipment/weapons? I already have a Baranar's Star set aside to use for him. I've heard it's just about the best Pally weapon. Pretty much anything you think you should tell me about this build, I would appreciate. Just give me your opinion, and thanx in advance.

I had one awhile back. They seem to be more effective in PvM than PvP. My suggestions would be to max out vengence and only put 12 points into conviction because when you add all your skills it comes out to be lvl 30 or so anyways and any more than that is redundant because the -resist will already be capped.
I Used a Doom Zerker, Dragon Armor, Dream helm, and an Eth Exile. 2x Bk Rings, Perfect maras, Dracs, Gores, and Nosferatu's.
Dont let the "written damage" dissapoint you though because, when conviction is on the, enemy has negative resist which means more damage is being done than what is on the character screen.
Another weapon that is good if you cant afford a Doom Zerker is the rune word "famine". It adds a ton of elemental damage and works great with Vengeance.
Like i said, This character is more PvM than PvP. You can kill any mob because you have all different types of damage. Immunes wont be a problem at all.......not even Physical Immunes.
If you have any more questions about this build just send me a Private Message on Blizz Sector.

You are right about Conviction, decide which equipment you are going to use, and then only put the remaining points into Conviction.
Do not use Baranar's star, it sucks. Instead, use Grief PB (otherwise you will not reach the last IAS breakpoint), because the added damage on it (340-400) gets multiplied by Vengeance and you get massive damage. I would not bother with Dragon, at level 20, Holy Fire only adds about 300 fire damage. Even with Conviction and Vengeance, the damage added is minute. I would suggest Fortitude instead.
Since you use Grief PB, you do not have to bother with Nosferatu's. Just go for stuff like Verdungo. If you are really short of IAS, use Andariel's Visage, since Dream sucks anyway.
Oh, and don't bother making this build if you are poor.

Has it been confirmed that Grief's added damage increases the elemental damage from vengeance? I've asked several people and none of them could say for sure. It would be nice if someone could do some testing.
Avengers are decent for PvM, but I don't see much potential for PvP. Also, as FraterPerdurabo said, don't bother with it if you're poor.

Well if you say I should not make this build if I'm poor, maybe I should just scrap the idea. My best char is a lvl80 blizz sorc, and I have a few decent items, but I have no other accounts for mule, and none of my items are extremely rare. Most rare item I have is probably Tal's set with an Occulus.blank:

Scrap the idea and make a MF sorc.
