I also have a 5 soc ethereal cryptic axe, which is perfect for mercenary doom.
it does 49-225 with 5 sockets
if you put in doom thats 280-360% ed and on a might aura merc you get holy freeze too
along with
186-855 dmg with (280%ed) minumum
to 225-1035 max dmg (360%ed) maximum
looking for 290s
id also trade the eth cryptic axe for a vex or ohm or jah rune
