awesome classic songs
#1
by classic i don't mean 70's-80's or like beetles or anything. i mean like songs that are universally good and have always been. i really need to broaden my horizons on music but right now i need space fillers for my ipod -.-;; because i don't want only 90-100songs when it holds 100+. mainly rock/metal not rap please(can't stand it).
As long as darkness flows through my veins, I will never cease, As long as my dreams still haunt me, I will never show mercy, and as long as evil lives I will never die.....

Sweet another person who hates rap, yay!!! Uhh, hmm, just search for metallica, ozzy, disturbed, slipknot, and download like the ones you have heard. I am way to lazy right now to list a crap load of good songs.

NOTHING IS CLASSIC ABOUT SLIPKNOT OR DISTURBED. They both suck.

Megadeth is classic.

Tool. By god Tool.

Run to the Hills by Maiden. And The Trooper. And Aces High. All three by Maiden.

Breaking the Law by Judas Priest. And You Got Another Thing Coming.

The Doors are 60's shit but they're all good.

There's some "classics" for you.

shift, dont waste your time...tool loves to judge people by what kind of music they like, and anyone who doesnt agree with him is an idiot or whatever.

hmm lets see...classic songs, but not really classic songs...well i could name some good songs that are actually classics, but you arent interested in that, so i guess i'd have to say go for some metallica, the old stuff not the new.

Rachmaninoff is the only composer classical musician I can think of that doesn't suck. (except maybe Prokofiev, bartok, stravinsky, copland, and orff) I can play the begining of the Rach3. Only the begining of course cause I have no real training and can't read music. I can also play fur elise, moonlight sonata... and somehting else, but thats it.

Who's the crazy Russian dude witht he fro that plays all the rach stuff. I think he had an album like 5 yrs ago?

I know this is way off topic but..

Rachmaninoff is the kind of music that you look at the sheet music and you hear it being played and you think it's going to be a pain, but the 2nd concerto was actually really easy. It has lots of octaved chords, but is in 4/4 time and in they key of C...

But i'm not into it enough to go out and buy classical CD's. I do some Blues (house of the rising sun, anybody?) and some contemporary stuff.. (Charlie brown theme, pink panther, etc etc) and trying to do some Joplin stuff.. Entertainer is somewhat easy but crap Maple Leaf Rag is just pure evil.

Anyways, back on topic..

Deftones - Change / Digital Bath
Soundgarden - Not the often played stuff, but things like Limo Wreck or Blow up the Outside World. I'm a huge Soundgarden fan.
Dope - Debonaire, or their remake (cant remember the name of the song) lyrics go "You spin me right round baby right round like a record baby"

I'd like to point out that neither of the three bands you named there are one hit wonders...Nirvana was huge and their popularity grew with every song they put out. Alice in Chains had a small number of singles but each was recognizable because they're a great band. Soundgarden had plenty of hits...you were conscious at all during the 90's?

I'll list some of my favorite songs:

Anthrax - Caught in a Mosh
A Perfect Circle - Passive
Audioslave - Exploder
Bush - Glycerine
Coal Chamber - Dark Days
Daming Well - Awakening
David Bowie - I'm Afraid of Americans
Deftones fet. Maynard James Keenan - Passenger
Filter fet. Crystal Method - Trip Like I Do
Incubus - Familiar
Lost Prophets - Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja (Their only good song)
Marilyn Manson - The Nobodies
Megadeath - Symphony of Destruction
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Mushroomhead - Solitaire Unraveling
Nine Inch Nails - Only (Don't care what anyone says about the new album I love this song)
Nirvana - Heart Shaped Box
Orgy - Gender
Pantera - Walk
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Pixies - Where is My Mind
Primus - My Name is Mud
Puscifer - Rev 22:20
Rammstein - Engel
Slayer - No Remorse
Simon Says - Sever
Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
Soundgarden - Spoon Man (Where I got my username)
Spineshank - New Disease
Stabbing Westward - The Thing I Hate
Stone Temple Pilots - Vaseline
Sublime - Date Rape
Tool - Eulogy
Weezer - Buddy Holly
White Zombie - Thunder Kiss '65

Alphabatized for convenience!

If you like slower stuff try Danny Lohner and Johnette Napalitano's stuff. They hooked up for the Underworld soundtrack to do a song called Suicide Note that's a great song and The Scientist for the Wicker Park soundtrack.

I'm pretty sure Alice in Chain's lead singer overdosed on heroine. I did hear they are doing a 'comeback' tour but you really can't replace lead singers...

Then again AC/DC's lead singer died and they found a voice *exactly* the same..
