Tony's Hammerdin Paladin Guide
The Hammerdin (Blessed Hammer Paladin) is a character that, at very high levels (85-90), can do well over ten-thousand damage with its Blessed Hammer skill. And with the right equipment, you can do possibly fifteen-to-sixteen-thousand damage. This guide gives you a look at how to build your Hammerdin, with info including equipment, stat point distribution, and skill point distribution. The best Hammerdin can easily rush Hell, with his hammers doing at least fifteen-thousand damage to enemies like Diablo or Mephisto, EVERY time you launch one, which makes it very easy to kill these powerful bosses in 8 to 10, or less hammers. The best Hammerdin also should have maximum resistances, maximum block, and a fair amount of defense (over ten-thousand). The Hammerdin is debatably the worst type of character to duel with. The Blessed Hammer skill is very unsuitable for close-range attacking (there is a minimum range on the skill), which almost always a must, especially against characters such as Sorceresses or Trap Assassins, who rely on long range, and you must catch them to beat them. Many people think that you can duel efficiently with a Hammerdin, but I have had problems dueling, one reason being I did not have all the equipment listed here, but I am not a very good dueler.
Equipment
There are many items that can make your Hammerdin powerful, but many are not better than the following:
Weapon- “Heart of the Oak” Flail (Ko-Vex-Pul-Thul)
Armor- “Enigma” Archon Plate (Jah-Ith-Ber)
Shield- Herald of Zakarum - Um Rune inserted
Helm- Harlequin Crest - Um Rune inserted -OR- Any Godly Paladin Circlet, with FCR.
Amulet- Mara’s Kaleidoscope -OR- Armageddon Slippers
Boots- Sandstorm Treks -OR- Soul Spurs -OR- Marrowwalks
Belt- Arachnid Mesh
Ring #1- Stone of Jordan
Ring #2- Stone of Jordan
Gloves- Magefist
Switch - Spirit and a Call to Arms
Charms - Paladin Hellfire Torch, Annihilus small charm, and Paladin Combat GCs.
With these items, and if you have any extra +Skill Grand Charms, the least bonus to your Skills is 14! (+16 to Combat Skills because of the Herald of Zakarum). If you have 10 Skill GCs (Combat) and the “Annihilus” Small Charm, you should have +27 to your Combat skills, and +15 to all other skills. I would recommend Combat GCs for Blessed Hammer.
Stat Point Distribution
The spreading of the Hammerdin’s stat points is adjustable to your liking but I find this configuration to be the most successful
Strength - Enough to use all of your items (Don’t forget your switch)
Edit - Keep in mind that Enigma gives you a strength bonus as you level up.
Dexterity- Enough keep you at max Block as you level.
Vitality - All others that don’t go into strength or dexterity go here.
Energy - None.

Skill Point Distribution
The Hammerdin’s skill points cannot be wasted on unneeded skills (such as Resist Fire or Resist Lightning). You won’t need ANY other skills except the ones listed below. The Number right of each skill is the required level to start using this skill.
-Defensive Auras-
1-Prayer (1)
1-Defiance (6)
1-Cleansing (12)
20-Vigor (18)
1-Redemption (30)
-24- -24 Total-
-Offensive Auras-
1-Might (1)
20-Blessed Aim (12)
20-Concentration (18)
-41- -65 Total-
-Combat Skills-
1-Holy Bolt (6)
20-Holy Shield (24)
20-Blessed Hammer (18)
-42- -107 Final Total-
I believe that there are 110 skill points available in the game, should you complete the Den of Evil, Radament, and Izual on all 3 difficulties. You may need these points to finish adding to your base skills and synergies. After you have maxed the required skills, extra points can be spent as you wish. Remember to note that this level may be lower depending on whether you complete these Skill Point quests (Den of Evil, Radament, and Izual, altogether giving 12 skill points if completed in all difficulties, which should not be difficult if your Hammerdin is created correctly).
PM or post here if you have any questions or comments.
