It's not even hacking. You can just buy the weapon, with the prefix needed and sell it all over again. D2HackIt! module just makes it faster.

well even if u were in act 2 where stuff is cheap and you had gheed's charm, you still would be a ways off from making money on anything I have seen. I'm sure it's a bug exploit at best, but it is less than legit in any means. they will be as likely to correct that as they will to crack down on bots.

IMO they can't do anything to bots. I've never even been banned for using one, or any other "hack" or exploit.

The buying and selling of Fools/Grinding weapons to accumulate gold quickly was fixed during last week's maintenance on USEast. I was making 22,000 gold a pop on a Grinding weapon. I don't know if this bug was fixed on West.
