Read Here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Thats also where to get fire fox! And yes I
Suggest you use it.

And this.

Quote: Firefox is a free, open-source web browser for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X and is based on the Mozilla codebase. It is small, fast and easy to use, and offers many advantages over Internet Explorer, such as the ability to block pop-up windows. Read more about the browser at the Firefox Product Page.

And it is safer.

Quote:
Is Firefox more secure than Internet Explorer? Yes, Firefox and all other Mozilla-based products are more secure. Why? Here is a list of the most important reasons:
  • It is not integrated with Windows, which helps prevent viruses and hackers from causing damage if they somehow manage to compromise Firefox.
  • There is no support for VBScript and ActiveX, two technologies which are the reasons for many IE security holes.
  • No spyware/adware software can automatically install in Firefox just by visiting a web site.
  • Firefox doesn't use Microsoft's Java VM, which has a history of more flaws than other Java VMs.
  • You have complete control over cookies.
Hope I helped =)

For security it is better, Divine covered most of that when he talked about scripting. I could just copy and paste the many other reasons, or I could redirect you. Check out my Firefox Guide for more information and recommended extensions, themes, etc.

The one thing I can tell you is just try it! You can listen to what others say all you want, but installing Firefox is not going to change anything in Internet Explorer, and Firefox is easy to uninstall if you want. You can see what other people use for extensions and stuff (like the ones I list in my guide), but the best judge on whether or not you like it is to try it for yourself...

You may have problems with one or two sites and that is all. You will still need to use IE for Windows Update, but even then there is an extension called IETab that can open an IE Tab inside of Firefox automatically when you try to visit these sites.

Better protection, tabs, extensions (cool things you can add to the browser, example is AdBlock which blocks internet adds), faster speeds, being able to make it even faster with some tweaks (see my guide for details), a built in pop-up blocker, just a better browser.

It is actually safer then Internet Explorer, it has been increasing in exploits recently but it is still not as bad as IE and they patch the exploits quicker and more often then IE does.

Flock, Firefox and Opera are all solid browsers. I suggest Firefox because it has the most people using solid extenssions and it has more support then the others because it is easily the most widely used. A lot of webdesigners make sure Firefox will work but do not test the other browsers. Flock does look promising though.
