I recently moved, only 5 miles, but the new neighborhood doesn't have cable so I now have DSL instead of my trusted cable modem. I talked to several D2 friends that never had problems playing with DSL so I thought it wouldn't be that bad. About the same time D2JSP became popular and so did lag duping. Now I cannot get online to play with out my ping jumping from 100 to over 2000 if I can get into a game at all! I play US East, Ladder and I am wondering if changing realms to US West or Europe would eliminate some of this problem or if it would be the same.
Does anyone actually play more than one realm? Anyone notice a difference in lag on different realms?
TY for any help or comments.

I had high speed dial because i live in the middle of bumf*%k of nowhere. I have no trouble connecting on any realm. Sometimes its difficult to teleport because it jumps back.(That is due to my older computer so no worry.) Right now I'm at work so I have T3 so I can't test right now, but as long as you don't try to connect to Asia or Europe you shouldn't have a problem.

I am not sure if the same IPs are shared across across realms, but I do know that multiple games on the same realm use the same IP causing someone to lag if someone is duping on that IP. You will have to look into it by joining a game and using netstat -n in command prompt and looking for a connection on port 4000 and see if the IPs are simular on dif realms.

TY guys, I think I will start a US West Ladder account and see how it goes. I haven't enjoyed playing in several weeks. About 5 minutes and I am fed up with the lag, and temp bans....

USWest was perfect for my DSL up until the dupes started.
Before the dupes I went to East for a bit but I guess since I live in Idaho it was just a bit too laggy for me.

i doubt it and i doubt that they will release it into the public if they want to keep bnet even close to being playable
ladder season will end soon (i think august) so i wouldn't recommending starting all over at this time.
