viruses and worms and trojans oh my...
#1
i'm starting to notice a pattern with computers now and the newer viruses etc that seem to change registry and such and so many programs needed to fix them. I figured i'd pitch a program that is basically the only thing youd need to fix registry, remove spyware, basic optimization and soforth. its called xp tools. normal version is like 50 bucks but has 23 programs built into 1 convenient program to keep your computer maintained without issues. for those who like the free scanners theres a page controlled by trend micro that has a good scan that might be of some use. i havent seen it posted so here it is:

Trend micro online scanning (requires internet explorer windows 2000/xp):

For those who are planning to buy a package like norton suite and soforth, check your options. there are many out there that work quite well including some AIOs (all-in-one).
the popular ones i've seen out that seem to also detect parasites are etrust security suite, smb suite, newer pc cillin, kaspersky antivirus 06, and NOD antivirus (free)

good luck and happy hunting.

pretty much is but not as complicated for the people that are computer illiterate up to the computer savy.

Additional Comment:
And you dont have to boot 1-2 times each time you scan and fix something lol.

TrendMicro is an amazing online scanner. Another one I would recommend for people who want a "second opinion" is...

Kaspersky Online Scanner

Edit: May want to add some antivirus programs to post...

Good Paid Ones

Nod32 (great AV, slightly better then the free ones. Used to be free but tehy expanded)

McAfee (good but a lot of junk you don't need. Like Norton they try and do everything)

Good Free Ones

AVG (my personal fav)

Avast

Antivir
