ok i have a major problem. i had reformated my hd on my pent 4 ( it is a HP) and now when i start it up it show the bios screen (it shows my hardware info i have phonix bios) then that screen goes away like normal. then all i get is a blinking line. i take the hd out then i get a error saysing no os. plz help me. i cant get into my bios my comp is used and it had a pass on bios. i cant figure out anythying. i need to get it to get past the blinking line. i let it set there for about 10 mins so i know that it isnt a matter of time. plz help me that would be very helpful. and might have a small reward if someone tells me how to fix it.

to reset the passwords on ur bios u have to take out the little flat battery on the motherboard (looks like a slightly bigger watch battery) and leave it out for a few minutes. Then put it back and all the options saved in ur bios will be reset. DO NOT do this if u have no idea what ur doing. Ask a local computer store if they might be able to help.
and u have to install windows again if u completly reformatted ur hard disk... thats why it says u have no os installed.
trayne or wm_hunter prolly have more knowledge than i do so wait and see whats their take

yea i already reformated and reinstaled the windows. and i tested the hd on another comp and it worked.

Well check and make sure its set as master.. even tho if its the only hd it shouldnt matter =/
did u do what i told u for the bios? im 100% sure about that.

Ya do what l4 said.....flash your bios.....but it isnt a battery its a jumper terminal

ok guys i did the battery thing. and now i can get into my bios and now i got my motherboard to read the hd but i still get that blinking line. i did reformat and reinstall windows on another hd(on this comp) and tried to take that hd and use it on the comp that is having problems. but i still get that blinking line. i know that it reinstalled right because i ran that hd on this comp. like i said if i unhook the hd i get a error saying no os. any idea on how to get around or stop that blinking line. i have a HP pent 4 phonixe 4 bios.plz help for the first time i cant fix this. any ideas out there plz help.

if it works on another comp, it could be the system is prerecorded to that motherboard and not the hp motherboard. try reinstalling windows again. sounds like theres a conflict and its trying to find a different board type with a different system scheme.
