PS3 the end of Sony?

okay gameinformer and other mags are sayin the ps3 will cause a huge downfall for Sony.THe price is one thing and the cost of games will be pretty expensive. Im somone who owns 17 playstation2s and i love sony's gamesand i hope sony isnt really going to have a huge downfall.

Honestly, these next gen consoles really don't appeal to me.

the Wii for it's retarded and gimmic-ey controller, the XBox for it's gaping memory flaw, and the PS3 for it's outrageous price.

i really think the ps3 is the next step in game councles and techknology for civilians. the stuff put in the ps 3 is amazing. the cost is outragious but i think every class in sosiety is looking forward to the coming ps3. i miself am going to get one and i know many other people and the price will fall after the first 3 months of debue. so i hopw that every one considers buying a ps3 wenever or any sony at that fact. sony came out with final fantasy 7,8,9,10 i mean those games were good and kingdom hearts one of the best games i have played for rpg hack and slash. best of luck to all that try to get it and waiting for price drop is probly best. have fun on it in november.

ok well 1st off how much is a PS3 cost now??? i read 400-600 range.. Well the fact is Sony its self shells out 800 per unit.. They lost the BETA/VHS war due to a complicated format. They are going All -In (Texas Hold'Em Style) to hold down the new format war of Blue-Ray vs HD-DVD. Imagine family's getting hi-def dvd players which cost 1k themselves and a high tech next generation game console for the kids (young and old) which will last for atleast a 5 year hiatus. Also the PS# is supposed to have disc and controller compatability with the PS2. Im just happy to hear it has a HD , so im hoping like the X-Box softmoding and burning game rentals will help save cost of software..

hey buddy thats cool that u like to hear about the PS. acually it is ranging that fare in prices but hey its going to be worth it you know u done ur researching real good.
but see its doing same thing as x-box releasing 2 versions of PS3. one with more capabilities than the other. but for $600.00 i would thin k it would have capabilities as my computer. and every online game better have speech team or i mean some sort of talking instrument.

Playstations Online format has always been subpar in comparison to Xbox Live, because Sony's Online is all the developers own servers, so you can't share one account on every game. Plus with news that the PS3 Will make it so you can't play Rented/Borrowed/Used games, only those which you have personally bought, many people will just say **** that and not buy it. Btw the 600$ is the basic system I believe.

if the ps3 basic is which i dont think it is based at $600. that would suck than first thread was right. ps3 wile fall into a mad plumit. but i really think the basic is $400.

You also have to remember the basic systems of each of the Next-Gen's are complete crap. A base 360 is poo. A base PS3 will be the same. Plus, the Blueray which is supposed to be insanely fast, turns out to be much slower than the DVD or w/e Xbox Discs until the technology catches up.

ya i know. the basics are poo. no wireless controlers headsets not included only one controller and not wireless. man people are kinda forced to get the good one, cuase i dont even think that the basic comes with a harddrive. it might come sepret witch means a waste of $80-100 bucks for that shiz. but i think that the blue ray will come out past expectations since the pricing is so high.

for the past 3 years i think it has been IBM and SONY and one other have all been working together to make this blue ray. so i mean u have many different top nouch componies that were working on this blue ray. and as being any # of minds more than one is better than one same consept. all three of those componies working on that instead of one like before. possibilities are very high indeed. and xbox was by them selfs i think making there havok reader or watever there laser work is called.

Kujo, I read an entire article on the BluRay techonology of the PS3 Discs, and it said not many game developers will want to make their games on these type of discs, so many of the games you will see won't be for PS3. Plus, it said be prepared for a slower disc compared to what you are used to.
Edit: Oh yeah, I believe this is a reason Final Fantasy started games on Xbox and PC and everything else, because since it used to be PS only pretty much, if the PS3 bombed, they might go out of business as well.
