if his cd is messed up, d2loader wont work cause files from the cd are required.

reinstalling the patch wont help with that issue. It sounds like you are using a burned copy of diablo 2. If that is the case, it probably wont work. Diablo 2 is a protected cd game. to make a copy, you'd need software that will go around the protection such as clone cd. Diablo 2 uses safedisk2 for protection. If you want, download an image of the diablo 2 disc and use the image, if you prefer the cd, make a new copy using clonecd, set the clonecd tray to 'hide cdr media'. It will work fine after that. You're best bet would be image with clone cd and use an old drive to hold the images. Most common users have an average of 5 games installed that require cd so a 30 gig drive should do fine.

If not, just make a copy with alcohol 120% set it to safedisk2/3 and hide the cdr media. it will work fine like that.

there IS a third option but its like 20 online to get it. its a program called game jackal. You make a profile on it, play with cd for like a day then afterwards it reads and builds its own no cd patch.
