duped runes

ok... i trade for HRs all the time and i just leave one of my chars in a game while i play with the other ... but sometimes after i "perm" the runes with my chars and leave that one in game... if i d/c then i sometimes lose a few runes happens every now and then not too angry about it , just want to know how to really "perm" runes... i dont really know to be honest i just open trade click accpet on both chars and go about my playing. little help, thanks.

To temp perm, click on a player, open the trade menu, close out fast, leave the game. The runes/duped items should be safe until you join/leave another game.

People say upping runes on ladder perms them, but I can't confirm that. Other than that, you can only temp perm them.

ohhhhhhhh the whole you can only temp perm them means everything to me. Ive only been doing the trade thingy once after i get a rune didn't know you had to every game :-) thanks abunch GL!

You can do what u are doing ruins will disapear basicly no matter what once u get the runes put them into a runeword and thats obviously keeps em forever

After you trade for a duped item/items enter the trade screen again and quickly exit the game with the char the duped item/items is on. I read some where that the more duped items of the same type that are in a game then the chance that some of them will disapear is greater. Also if some one temp perms and leaves before you leave then you must temp perm again before you leave. I have heard that you must leave with in 5 seconds or as quickly as possible but who really knows. Just enter trade screen click cancel and leave with the char carying the duped item/items asap and you should be safe 99% of the time.

If you wanna dupe the runes and got gp.. Sell them to a store and buy them back, heard that works too...

Ya I have also been told that selling the runes to charsi works fine also. I have tried it several times with several diffrent items. I can tell you from experence that it seems to works with runes, just be sure that you have enough gold to buy em back cause sometimes when you leave to find some the runes wont be there when you return. (Remember that this method just temp perms also)

I have also tried this with some items that were not there when I went to buy em back, like wizard gloves, a 0.8 valk amd I think I lost a per anni to this method also. I remember I lost a t might but I cant remember if I sold it and it wasnt there when I was gonna buy it back or if I just left it on the ground to long. Any ways long story short this method is safe for runes but I wouldnt try it for items unless its a last result kinda thing.

A few things:

Upping the runes in the cube, on ladder (2 hr's and a gem), appears to work for me. I hear it creates a completely new item, so that is considered permed. I am pretty certain that works. My upped runes havent poofed, and i play with the char all the time.

The "putting them in a runeword" theory is half true. It is safe against the passive rust storm (if you are unfamiliar with this term. http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp, go to the thread 'what you need to konw about d2') the full rust storm will delete your RW items if there is a single dupe in there. the full rust storm they say was never run on NL, but was on ladder last august. not sure when they will run it again.

if u take 2 duped guls and make vex. vex will be permed, cuz it has a different item code thing on it.

yea, i think bnet has it to where if 2 items with the same code are in a game they will dissappear. that's why i always put hrs on a mules. also, i heard that if someone sells or leaves the original rune in a game then exits,(the one that was used to dupe) that all the duped ones dissappear. excluding the runes used in runewords, of course. or possibly the ones that have been up'd..
