General Input on WoW
#1
Well I just recently quit d2 after a LONG time playing and am looking for a new game to play, I was wondering if you guys that play WoW could give me your input about the game and if its worth the monthly fees. Thanks.

There are two types of players. The first type is the casual player (which most players start off playing as), while the second type is the hardcore "7hours a day--literally" type.
Casual players really don't get all that much out of the game play, as they are excluded from huge ass guild raids.
The effort it takes to get up to superb raiding par is fun, but it sucks up your entire life. Getting up to 60 is the easy part.
And you really have to stay for entire raids, or you won't find yourself in an endgame guild.

Once you get into that awesome guild and spend that raiding time (if you choose to do so), there comes a point when, you honestly get sick of the game. There's nothing left to do, except waste more time trying to build up rep w/ other races so you can ride another type of mount (it has the exact same stats, but it's just a different type of animal).

When I think of WoW, I get pissed at myself for playing. Yeah, for me, it's that bad.

Of course, there's going to be a zillion people who are like "no way, wow is great." And they're entitled to their opinion. Sure.

The wow population is dwindling. It'll spike up insanely once BC comes out, but it'll die again. It's just so boring, hunting for gear; and once u get that gear, not much changes. you'll be helping guildies hunt for their gear.

/agree with y.i.

But I liked WoW for the social part, not for farming gear or PvP WoW has one of the best social parts if you aren't a complete ****.

But its very boring if you don't explore the game beyond the boundries, i don't mean hacking, I mean like exploring, exploiting, twinking and the rest Smile

I just started it, and I think it's amazing. So far it's worth it to me (Has no experience with Raids or any of that like)

I was going to ask to get WoW and the expansions for my birthday to play with real life friends. I play FFXI and am a high level in multiple characters.(75 Thief-75 Monk-41Whitemage -39Blackmage-37 Warrior-37Ninja-28Samauri)I talk to people about WoW and we compare notes on the differences...but *game speak* seems universal. I spend a lot of time helping others and I too am at *End Game* activities.
The most elite Linkshells(our version of a guild) have sought after me. This is a compliment ...and a curse.
Being so well known on a server can be very helpfull...and transversely very burdensome.
You do not walk thru any area without many people stopping you to converse.
Being the person I am (dammit) I do not just run by. I bow or wave and give a polite greeting.
It sometimes takes me 20 minutes just to get out of town..... I now *Generally* stay in what are known as ~social~ Linkshells...I check up on friends and see if anyone needs me.We have *Types* of Linkshells as well. Some are specifically to fight Hyper Notorious Monsters. these are called HNM LS...some are called Dynamis LS...takes you to places where certain gear drops....(expect at least 3 deaths there) I also have a few Linkshells designed to help low level players. My friends get tickled when I announce I am switching Linkshells to *check on my kids*

I'm in the same boat as you, Arc. Though for personal reasons I'm not going to make the switch for at least two months, and even at that I may wait even longer for the expansion to come out (January 7th last time I heard?)

no its the 28-29 of november and there are ways to get insane gear with out the game eating your life, go on raids when you want, go for /4 ot LFG channel youll always see a raid starting up BWL (black wing lair) MC (Molten core) AQ40 (An' quiraje 40 man also AQ 20 "how ever you spell it") UD strat(un dead strat )L start (living Strat) ZG (Zul' Grub) Scholo( scholomance)(good gear for a five man raid) Naxxus (Naxxaramus) UBRS (upper black rock spire) LBRS (lower black rock spire) and many smaller 3-7 man instances that don't require and entire week end to complete becuase the raid leader is a complete moron. They will require maybe an hour or to after youve done it a few times, if you don't want to bother with the guild that have people on raiding all the time and just need to get that last part of the tier three gear at 4 in the mornin don't, play the game to have fun, not to sell your soul

Don't listen to this guy. PUGs are inefficient, ineffective, and all around stupid for real raids. Most of the time you get deserters and can't finish the damn instance. Or even worse, you might pick up a ninja.

Wow's a great game, but sadly i was forced to quit(banned), and i was only 2 weeks from GM! And i had a pally on different, acct, but not another 3 months siting there endlessly waiting for que's, WOW is a fun game, but it gets, old after a while you just want to quit, but you can't because uve spent so much time on your chars. In the end(after lvl 60), you just do endless raiding, or helping out friends. It's fun at first then gets dull, quick.

Why not be that idiot who pretends to be a girl on the forums? Why not be that idiot who everyone hates?

Arc, the thing about WoW is that a large portion of the game is based upon trust. You join a guild because you assume you can trust your guildies. You add people to your friends list because you can trust them in an instance. You blacklist idiots like flea.
