vista probably wont be worth it till the near end of 2007. the new nvidia is okay in speed but seems they havent covered the cooling times on it. ati's new card is supposed to have dualled pipelines. amds new cores isnt worth it just yet since the boards they are building it for kinda are short on expansion slots. i'm still going to wait till about april when the large sales pop up. the am2 and am3 seasons are about equal to core 2 duo. theres been discussion about the next series of memory. such as the ddr3 memory. i'm waiting on foxconn and dpi to make new boards and adm and ati to make their 3 level hardware.

pci express 2.0 is just pci express x2. sorta like agps. they said its nearly completed except for a few issues in the builds. they are too dependent on frequencies when they should work more near fsb levels and pipelines.

Just so you guys are warned:

I do not suggest a Vista upgrade until at least a year after the release. They have rewrote the network stack that they have been prefecting since Windows 98 SE for christs sake... and it is still buggy as hell. This means a lot of fun for hackers attempting to attack your computer from the internet.

They also denied applications access to the kernal. This means that antivirus companies, antispyware companies and other important programs will not function well. Microsoft has responded saying that they will "fix" it in server pack one for Vista.

They will not be attempting to enhance the security to the kernal either. They will go from having it locked down to having it fully open so hackers can have the same fun they have had all through windows history.

Basically: re-writting good stuff, adding bad stuff, extremely buggy and insecure... all this for DirectX 10.0 and some nice GUI? I'll pass until its patched up thank you very much.

its not just the kernal. they are trying to find a way to run without a kernal. their beta uses a small kernal (less than 512mb than the normal 1044) and uses 3 levels of caching but that was a waste since it needs high requirements to run like that. They should use the kernal from corporate and write a secondary kernal like they do in CE enterprise edition. Least that way it can use 2 levels of kernals at half the cost of resources and speed gaps. they can also splice the idle time with 2 levels like they do with processors. downside would be manually adjusting size and frequency when upgrades are applied but that shouldnt be too much trouble. they can probably write a css style that will adust automatically sorta like a generator.

they are trying everything in their power to 'force' people to get vista by making the newer software vista only. theres already talk about how quickly they are falling. one of the reasons basically is that they got in trouble for using builds from macintosh and they were caught red handed for it. tho they could of gotten out of it by busting macintosh for breaking contracts and doing the same thing microsoft did. if microsoft was smart, they'd sell a royalty to unix and join forces in the build of vista. their gui database and sublines are spectacular in the unix r8 series.
