With RAM you need to make sure it's compatible with your motherboard. Do you know what kind of RAM the current stick is? If not, find out and make sure if it's PC3200 400MHZ, or something like that, that the other stick is the same. Also, if you buy a stick of the same speed, since I'm sure the system you're on doesn't have a lot of higher end parts, it shouldn't be that expensive. Search Newegg.com Or if you can't figure out what kind of RAM you need check your mother board on Dell. as they have a memory selector for many different brands of PCs and motherboards.

Can you guys stop speaking Greek? I always thought a Ram was a male sheep.WTF is a motherboard? Buy a stick?....Please do not ever take me to a computer store....as I will likely leave with a calculator.

I made this up on the spot. No Google . One of my favorite examples to explain it to people.
Your computers processor is like a big accountant inside your computer doing all the calculations and making sure everyone is doing their jobs. The faster ones have more of them with bigger calculators smartass2.
Your harddrive is like the massive ****ing file cabinet that stores shit you should have gotten rid of 4 years ago.
Your memory is like the number\efficiency of your workers. They get the shit done.
Your video card is like the 50 inch plasma TV in the corner. Doesn't do much, but sure does look nice.
Your sound card (shitty and often built into the building, but no one knows why), are the speakers coming from the TV.
Your power supply is the power from the power company letting you run all of this.
Your motherboard is the building that holds everything.

I don't need hard drives, I just have 1000 asian people in my basement memorizing binary all day.

Which should be like $80ish to you. DDR2 is bit more expensive, like $20 USD more. Just to make sure, run a memory test at crucial.com and it will tell you what kind of memory you should get.
