Best Rock Bands of All time?

I don't think the magazine was talking about the most talented bands. Or the ones that the most people like. I think by "Best", they were listing the top 100 most influential bands. I don't like Nirvana, but I can't deny that they've had a ****ing huge impact on the music that I listen to today, even though they're completely different.

Metalhead made some pretty harsh comments about some bands being "emo" or whatever. Just because you like the genre of metal, doesn't mean you have to fall under the stereotype of a metalhead and be bias against every genre that isn't metal. I'll bet that a handful of metal bands gained influences from Linkin Park. And not NU METAL guitarists, I mean real metal. Death, grind, black whatever you listen to. Though they may never admit to it, I bet when they first picked up a guitar or a bass or a drum kit, they were listening to linkin park, or the chili peppers, or nirvana. Probly even THE USED. Yeah, thats a lot to take in, but it's true.

What it comes down to, is whether you're a musician or not, you have to respect all types of music. Even more so if you are a musician.

I apologize if a lot of what I said has already been said, I didn't feel like reading all the bogus posts.

if we are going with best of all time then somewhere in that list needs to be metallica.. they are awesome and are still making major hits.

Let it be noted that I didn't read most of this post. That being said this list is absolute crap! The Dixie Chicks are not a rock band, neither are the Black Eyed Peas and there are a shitload of bands that are far better(and maybe more influential) than Led Zeppelin.

I do not agree nor disagree with the list.I do not CARE who is on it for the simple reason....I listen to what I like...if YOU do not like what I am listening to?? Go in another room and turn your OWN dang music on and leave ME to listen to MINE.

I have a lot of favorite bands,but as I stated earlier I go more for a particular SONG,and not go *hardcore* in worshiping a particular band.

now don't penolize me cuz i haven't read through the thread. But no doubt Led Zeppelin and black sabbath have to be on that list. Don't even forget about the Beatles, thats a given.

Top bands is a matter of history,in the affect of the impact they had on the music industry and the influences over the culture at the time they were popular.Many bands influenced us and your taste in music will always guide what you PERSONALLY think is a *Top Band* A list does not matter....it really doesn't...it is what YOU think about a band or it's place in history that matters. Music is personal,it makes us dance,laugh,cry,remember events...it is personal.

I totally agree with that statement. theres no such thing as a top list for bands. we the people are who makes the band. and depends on whether not their music sales. its like emo. i personally dont like it but it sells now because people like it. all a band has to do is make one great song and people will listen to the other songs they have to offer. most people hear 1 song they like thats really popular like say off the top of my head. with uhh hey there deliah. people like that song so much that they will go out and buy the cd. people like us on this fourm would just download the songs lol. but theres no such thing as MUSIC IS OPINIONATED. there really is no right or wrong music/band.
