Fade Away

Does any1 know how to fadeaway pics?... Like where the background is kinda darker than layer 1 or 2?
I could never figure it out. This one I just used exploding images if ur wondering.

ok first this tut was written by me. ty ty. ok now
1.First u create ur image
2. u add it pic or BG make it be at bottom of the layers list to be below ..
3.Make your Image say i use .. hmm that robot in the pic i made for freeMake it on the top of all the images
4. Look at the top right while clicked on The Pictures Layer on the layer box and find Opacity set ur opacity at 50%
there you go you should beable to see through ur character .. does that help?

Another thing I was wondering is how come everytime I paste a pic on to a layer it gets locked down and becomes unmoveable...?

hmm.. u ever try to unlock it? it has to be ur settup.. ive never had this prob o no clue sry
