IAS question

I socketed an Andys with a 40ed and 15ias jewel but found that I cannot give up my Arreats ( this is on my Frenzy Barabarian ) ,...with all the additional resistance the Arreats provides ( da... Andys is also a negative 30 on fire resist,.........(BIG BLUNDER BY BLIZZARD)...not to mention the great features including all other resist that the Arreats Face Slayer Guard provides..!
My question now becomes:

Can my merc........." a harrogath barb"......avail himself and take an advantage of the 15ias mod installed on this Andariels Visage Demonhead via a socketed jewel...( 40ed & 15ias)........" or " ......does "my merc's" ias not progress towards any better optimal break point,....which,...I know I can eventually reach with my barb!

In other words..... to what extent does a barb merc use the same item atributes my char does,......and ,....can he indeed not use certain kinds of item attributes such as DR,..AR,..ABSORPTION ,..etc.)can he not use these...I know he uses life steal, and life itself, as well as damage and defense of course appear on his char chart,...so,...I know he uses those mods!

Any input on this matter will be greatly appreciated!

He should still benefit from the IAS as far as I know. One of my zons has a Faith bow and a barb merc. It is visibly apparent that the IAS increase from fanaticism does apply to him so the 15 IAS from the jewel should work too. However I am not sure about IAS breakpoints for hirelings

Sometimes with all the FANAT & IAS in the world, you're still not going to get a "NORMAL" speed weapon up to "very fast". Keep that in mind. I got an IAS jewel in my merc's Andy's, as well as an Infinity Thresher, and the son-of-a-bitch STILL isn't "very fast". I was baaling in a game with a pally with FANAT on, and it STILL didn't show "very fast" for my merc's weapon speed.

Because you didn't have enough IAS.

Normal attacks (as opposed to WW, Smite, Zeal, etc) usually require far more IAS.
