Well, the ED on fort does affect smite dmg, BUT that's about all fort has for you in terms of making a smiter better. Granted it isnt much, but 45% frw on nig helps a lot, and the 8% dr is helpful in smite vs smite duels. Also, nig adds +60 str at lvl 80, and even more at higher lvls, which means you can use less str for your gear (especially if you use an upped hoz, which requires 142 str, or spirit mon for bo, which requires 156 str, or coa which is something like 174 str) and less str means more vita which means way more life with bo.

In other words, I would strongly recommend enigma, especially a low str one, such as MP. I used mp nig with my char, and he's hitting 4.3k life right now, w/o doing the jade quest or tome quest in act 3 for any difficulty. He's lvl 88, but still, godly life.

For uber trist CoH is always a viable option, the res help a lot and a smiter with no res in trist has a slim chance of survival, and it also has the 8 dr that enigma has.

A kiras will give you max res also.


Besides, the 15% DTM from enigma is a necessity, at least in uber trist, when you're fighting baal. He leeches mana, and so it would be wise to have a way to get mana back quickly. Mana Pots only work so well, and better yet the fact that you would run out quickly. Everyone knows you get hit A LOT in ubers, and so 15% DTM is a very nice mod to have. To be caught in the middle of uber trist with all the minions on you, plus an uber or two, with no mana, is a smiter's worst nightmare.

With the above items I have 4k life during ubers, I hit for 2k average smite dmg, and I have max res. In fact, since I put a lot of skills into the res lite aura, my max lite res is hitting 86 right now, which I manage with this setup. I seem to do ubers in about a minute, and never die, not even from lag, and I never use any pots. In fact I can go into ubers without any pots, and not worry.

It is your call, but I find this build to be the very best.

Fort gives invisible damage to smite. Meaning you'll do around 6-7k with smite when it reads 2k.
