problem with hero editor 0.96

I used to use hero editor often, but quit D2 for a year and now I want to play again but experience some problems editing. I just installed D2 LOD, created an expansion character, then started Hero Editor, but when I load the save file it displays this error message: "unknown stat found: 21"


And then a series of error windows pop up. I double-checked to make sure that I have the right patch (1.11b) installed, and I did have it. Does anyone know what the problem is? I remember something about editing the D2 shortcut target on desktop a while back, but I can't remember the exact procedures.
