That Gameplay video was quite nice, although I probably won't end up getting SC2. Reason one is that I'm too cheap, and secondly, to me, all of these new RTS's just seem to look the same.
Games like Supreme Commander, and now SC2, just seem like the same kind of thing. I know they are both RTS so obviously it has many similarities already, but they just look the same with smaller infantry and then the big badass units. It then tries to make each battle some kind of cinematic sequence. I'm sure the reason behind this is because most of the things they advertise try and show all of the units and show off all that jazz (big battles, very cinematic) to make little boys wet their pants or something.
I guess just seeing a SC2 on its own looks weird. I'm not used to playing with graphics like that, and I always thought strategy and the enjoyability of the game came before graphics and how it looks. Let's hope the finished product to the public includes as much strategy as it is glitter, because the videos seem to emphasize big battles and duking it out in large armies. When I played Starcraft I prefer smaller battles, strategy, sneaking around, etc; not just two huge forces beating the crap outta one another.
Don't get me wrong, this looks like it'll be a big hit and it looks great and all, but it just seems too similar to other newer RTS's and hopefully there will be something in there to make it a bit more....unique and Starcraft-y. GG.

i so agree
although graphics are what people demand, the reason why starcraft has remains popular is b/c of the strategy. too much glitter at the cost of game play really diminishes the game. im glad that blizz decided to opt out of a zoom feature, b/c honestly who needs it. then there is also the problem of making the game overly complicated. simplicity is good

Your right, that would be unprecedented/ground breaking. Let's hope that do charge just to show everyone who's boss.

TY sir! Basically this means that you fight and make decisions in real time correct. No pausing the game and thinking about it?(Look FFXI is my only game) I watched my kids play other games, over the years,
and they would pause and save things.
I guess it makes this more of a challenge to play that it is real time.

Well in FFXI it is not only an MMORPG ,but all of it is Real-Time.The only way to stop the game play is to log out.In battles you are in the thick of it.I will post up some screen shots soon.
Make sure these screenies are in a separate thread! -jederz

You guys, think about it seriously. RTS type games will never have a monthly fee for online game play. The reason you monthly pay to play your wow, is because of the constant server updates and the simple fact that they constantly have to work on the game 24/7.. A GM for ever server.. RTS are simple enough for them, launch.. patch.. patch.. when they hit the sweet spot.. they can just sit back and watch the money spill in from the millions of people who have been waiting for SC2 for.. what.. 9 years?

Better way to explain it is, the only games that are pay per month are those that are only available to play online, everything else has a single player offline campaign or what not.

All that needs to be said is that it looks amazing, and I'm pre-ordering this sucker.

Probably because I fail to appreciate the beauty in what I see around me constantly.
