What's the best version out and why? Im tired fo using XP and i don't really want to go to Vista and have my system slow down. I liked the link to the Ubuntu with Beryl and how the interface ran. But other than looks I don't know a damn thing about Linux. So please help me out here.....

linux is pretty good. I use it often myself when i'm doing different things. But youd probably want to have windows on it too. If you have a big harddrive, partition like 15 gigs for linux incase you get into it. I use a 320gb sata2 10500rpm drive and gave 2 of my linux's 80 gigs each. I run slackware 11.0 and ubuntuu. downside to ubuntuu is it cant use most windows games. There are plugins out to fix that but they are a pain to find so far. slackware on the other hand can run windows and non windows game software. I havent tested it for mac software yet but i probably will in the future. linux pretty much runs like windows...just it isnt as bad of a resource hog. As for a new windows. I had the same issue. i ditched vista for longhorn. was the best choice i've ever had.
