Xbox 360 vs Playstation 3
#21
SpoonMan999 Wrote:Um, have been in living under a rock or something?

RPG gamers should get PS3? Yeah...if you played Final Fantasy X-2 and XII you maybe dreading XIII as much as I am and the 360 just had Mass Effect launch which after completing I can honestly say is my new favorite game. Yes, something has finally taken Final Fantasy VII's throne in my heart.

Oh, and let's not forget Assassin's Creed for those multi platform games out there.

Your review of the 360 can summarized simply: "I'm a Sony fan-boy and I don't even own a 360 and I only use my internet connection to find out what other people who only mildly enjoy games (FPS gamers) are playing."

Welcome to the world of gaming, I'm a real gamer. Who are you?
One of those final fantasies is a port of a MMORPG, So understandably it suffers on Ps2.
You're judging an entire series of games of two bad titles, every series has it's bad titles, don't discredit the series on one or two slip ups.

Well personally I dont have the time to play enough to spend $50 a month on X box live and if i recall the HD dvd drive for Xbox is $200 there for making the Xbox360 more expensive. I agree with the choose what games you like and pick from there. But is it that simple? Most all those games are on the PC too. Well I think we all play or played D2 therefore we have a computer to lay most of these games on. Only prob I see is nowadays the games are needing such huge requirements like Guitar Hero 3 needs a 2.4ghz or greater and im not sure if it mentioned core2 chip or not but still.

Overall I think that ppl who spend this amount of money are going to be happy either way in the end. Both consoles offer enough playability to keep busy for awile. I'm also thankfull nobody has brought up or mentioned the Nintendo Wii into any of this.

Well, I'm basing it off of the two more recent single player titles, XI was the MMO, as I've never played the online one. If the last two are any indication then the next one is going to ruin my faith in the series. I'll probably still get a PS3 and play it anyway though.

[Edit] Oh, and I completely forgot Dirge of Cerberus which was just a Devil May Cry rip off with FF characters. And one of the shortest games I've ever played.

I have trouble being nice to people with any of their "a/s/l" information in their user title. And who said you couldn't have a life AND be a gamer? There are 24 hours in every day which is more than enough to sleep, go to work, play a game or two, and go out. I like how people's only defense against a geek/nerd/dork/whatever is, "Well, I have a life." to which I can only reply, "Good for you...so do I." It's called time management people it's not that hard.

Though all flaming aside I'd like to start a list of GREAT PS2 games vs. GREAT X-Box games as you mentioned a ratio before. Other may feel free to add to said list.

PS2
Final Fantasy X
Kingdom Hearts I+II ( I don't care if it's Disney this was a good game)
Socom (Introduced multi player to PS2)
Gran Turisimo

Plenty of GOOD games on PS2 but honestly most of the great PS titles were on the original and these are the only two I can think of that had me addicted on my PS2.

X-Box
Fable
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I+II
Halo (**** Halo 2)
Star Wars: Battlefront (If you're into multi player and this is under X-Box because the multi player on PS2 blows)

I seem to be drawing a blank at the moment so everyone help me fill in more games for this list.

Anyway, my stance still stands, 360 is worth the money NOW and PS3 would be more of an investment. Seriously, who wants to make gaming an investment? I'm not going to sit around and wait for the next few months to enjoy something I already paid for because their game catalog blows.

PS2
God of War (The first one... 2 was good but just not as good as the first one.)
Shadow of the Colossus
What Spoon already said.
MGS series
Killzone
Soul Calibur series
THPS series

Xbox
A bunch of PC games... This is my honest opinion, and I own an Xbox. The only reason I haven't sold it, and the only reason I see any use in it is the modding. Every game Spoon listed is available on PC. Every "great" game on Xbox is available on PC. I challenge you to name one that isn't.

Well of course every title of xbox should be on pc considering Microsoft. Now I hant player a Final Fantasy since like V or VI. Did they ever get any better or are they just continuances of the series like Metal Gear or Splinter Cell ?( having few changes per newer gamer)

Also i want evyone's opinion on Vertical vs Horzontal on the 360/PS3. Which one and why?

I agree. You can either get a xbox or a PC because they have identical games. Question is the $. If u dont have a great pc, the xbox is a great system. If u have a really good gaming pc, no need for a 360.

For the PS3, wait for the good games to come out (ff13, gran turismo 5, mgs4) and you'll be set. PS3 is amazing but the xbox just has all those games.

Xbox 360 has games but of course it has the 3 rrod which is y i am not gonna buy it. PS3 is built very good to last 10 yrs+

And, 360 horizontal, ps3 either way.

But as right now, Americans will want the 360/wii, japan wii/ps3, Europe all 3. Depends if your hardcore of casual. If the PS3 can keep it exclusives, it can be a very good system. If not, 360 will be the better value.

I can't comment on God of War since I never played it but as far as Shadow of the Colosus is concerned I was disapointed with that game. I got about a half hour into it and I was done. And Tony Hawks Pro Skater i don't consider a really great game, they're fun but not much substance to them.

[Edit] Sorry had a customer come up.

As far as having PC vs. 360 saying they have the same games is pretty innacurate. Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, and Chrome Hounds are all games I own on 360 not available for PC. Mass Effect will be on PC eventually I'm sure but Bioware's ports from console to PC are always glitchy, despite that they used to only make PC games.

did anyone put up blood omen 2? for PS2? the legacy of kain one that came to xbox sucked. and there was stuntman on ps2 along with the Dragon Ball Z fighting games, one of the best anime fighter games in my opinion besides tekken. o yeah and tekken i know i mispelled that

and for xbox there was fable. i can think of many good titles for xbox seeing as how i owned it for maybe a year untill 360 came out. halo 2 i guess

Halo3 hasn't come out on Pc yet to give a boost in 360 sales as well as Microsoft having problems with Vista. ( I will stay with XP so no comments from me on Vista)

Vista is working fine people are just too stupid to use it properly. Halo 3 isn't on PC yet because they're doing what they did with Halo 2, which only just came out on PC fairly recently, they're saying, "If you want the games in a timely manner buy the X-Box and give us more money."

Yea main thing for vista is having the right amount of ram i have 3gb ddr2 800 ram and vista runs very smoothly less ram means it can't operate properly and that why people get upset. (also a Sata 2 drive seems to make quite a difference)

Since my ram upgrade my games with sli have being running like a dream.

PC is stepping it up with games i recent time and have always prefered my pc (Always prefered mouse and keyboard to a control)

I have a ps3 and i am starting to see alot more games out now for it so its already starting to over shadow xbox.

Porting of PS and xbox game to pc is nice for me but only if the company does it right other wise it spoils the whole experience, like spoon said bioware is not very good at it.

It's not easy to port games though.
Most games that get ported are from big developers, And mulltiplatform titles are usualy developed alongside, not one done then copied and ported.

Xp with 2 gigs ram runs smoother than vista 64 with 4 gigs of ram for games. You're right about company wanting more money for a marketing strategy. What I mentioned about the Vista problems should have been in quotes since it was their words not mine, sorry bout that. I just dont support Microsoft. IMO Vista's only advantage for games is Dx10 over Dx9 but the SP3 update for Xp will help on that. ( Not that any of it matters on my AMD A socket chipset, but all I read for my current build supports that)

I'm running Vista with 2GB of RAM and I run almost as smoothly as I did on XP. The problem is that people expected a 5 year old machine to run Vista just and didn't take into account that software progression means heavier hard drive requirements. On top of that if you just disable a few background services Vista runs like a champ. However, Vista 64 is going to suck for gaming because decent drivers are still a pain to find for a 64-bit OS.

Back to the topic though, the only PS3 exclusive game right now that is worth getting is the new Ratchet and Clank...seriously that's it.

idk cause i would rather have COD4 on ps3 just cause of the graphics thing but since i dont own a hdtv i would go with 360 cause of their titles now. but once i get a hdtv the 360 will be retired untill gears 2 comes out

I'd rather have any game on PC if it's available for it because I just prefer my mouse and keyboard to a controller.
