Router Problems
#1
ISP: Comcast Cable
Router: Netgear MR814v2. (wireless b) most recent firmware
Other Router: US Robotics MAXG USR5461 most recent firmware
Cable Modem Box: Ambit U10C018

the problem is that i get "server not found" way to often in firefox as well as in IE. i have to refresh the page multiple times in order to get it to load all the way. and even then, it sometimes messes up the pictures. the netgear is directly hooked up to the modem, and the USR is hooked up to the hooked up to the netgear. there seems to be something wrong with the netgear.. b/c when i switch the routers, everything seems to be fine.

for instance, i would have my USR directly connect to the modem, and then the netgear. all of my lan cables hook up with the netgear. only while doing this, do i seem to get no connection problems. why is that? i have tried messing with the MTU in the netgear, nothing. i have tried everything, and nothing has worked on the netgear. the ISP said that nothing was wrong with my internet, and they claimed nothing was wrong with the modem.

but another problem arises. the USR doesnt seem to want to stay connected with the modem for very long. it will drop the ip adress on me. that means i have to reset everything.

also what seems to work is having something that will keep my internet constantly active, like streaming music. that seems to reduce the time with which the pages load, and reduces the number of "servers not found"

also, another pattern that i notice, is that the internet takes time to "warm" up. the connection will slowly get better with more and more usage. but when first using the internet, it is god awful.

ok the last part of my question: is it possible to reroll the firmware on the netgear modem? i think that may fix it somehow by bringing it back to firmware that worked.

if you could answer by paragraph, please, that would be appreciated.

Your running 2 layer 3 devices........get a switch
