the one here...

BlazingFast Dell Win XP Pro Desktop Computer w/15in LCD - (eBay item 220153385089 end time Sep-24-07 15:40:19 PDT)

But was wondering how it is selling for so cheap, when I go to places like bestbuy or mdg, you cant find a one for like under $400. Is it because its being sold online, or its refurbished or something?

Its probably because its used. The specification is also very low. 1 Gb of ram is right now minimum. It has 256Mb, which was bare minimum 4 years ago maybe. Intel Celeron, 1.8 Mhz is really slow. This computer is at least 3 years old. There are countless amounts of low end computers that are that price but better, and its still low end to todays standards. You must learn about the computer parts.

Try looking into HP's. They are reliable, fast, and cheap. They also don't come crammed full of bloat ware like all Dell's do.

On the contrary. The new Hp laptop I bought had lots of crap. But of course you can easily get rid of them all.

Are you sure that wasn't just the crappy new Vista that came with all the mung? I just bought mine this January and I didn't spend more than 5min clearing crap. And I had a Dell previously and spend pretty much the whole first day playing seek and destroy with all the bloat ware.

Only thing dell has going for them is "financing" . a good rule of thumb if your thinking about purchasing a dell. go ahead and get the 4 year warranty. Now I currently have a gateway computer that i purchased in like 1999 and its still working perfectly fine.
You said so much without ever parting your lips.

Lenovo makes good computers and they're relatively dirt cheap.

another company that i heard about was cyberpowerpc.com
my teacher was recommending that, he said that they just put the computer together for you, but its also cheaper that way than putting it all together yourself say through newegg

Or you can just find a crack head that needs money and tell him you want his computer rather than the traditional blow job.

Seriously. If you even THOUGHT about buying that really outdated as heck computer on Ebay. A 500 dollar one would feel like god. However a 500 dollar was is still outdated, it still works perfectly fine for everyday use. Just not games like Fear, or whatever games people use to benchmark.

I bought a 900$ Hp and it runs bad ass. But my P4 512mb ram comp with ubuntu linux only takes like 15 seconds to start and no wait time on programs to open. It runs circles around the vista machine with a 1/4 of the resources. So just get a p4 machine for like 150 bucks and run unbuntu ultimate on it. You'll be glad you did.

The problem is, not everybody is use to Linux. And the guy that thought about buying a computer with 256mb probably will not like using Linux even if it does bring better performance.

IMO its easier than windows. All programs are updated through the same manager. ALL the software is free. You can run widows AND mac programs. Not to mention viruses is a non-issue with linux. It's win win.

But peoples like me have been using Windows for years. Most of us are noobs. Many of the people I ask doesn't even know what Vista is. Let alone linux. Actually there were a couple of girls that didn't even know what Windows Xp is.

Nice to try it out though.

There's always SUSE I suppose. The GUI is practically identical to Windows and the functionality is similar as well.
