I've been considering buying the game, haven't heard good nor bad of it so I've been waiting for some opinions. How about you ?

i have friends who own it. although it looks hard, they all beat it in under 5 hours

i dont think that you will need a killer setup to run it.
the game itself doesnt look too graphicy. like what you said, its all about the puzzles

Well keep in mind, my new pc is all for work. RADEON 7000 gfx card in it, I called and the distributer said the shipping on my new one was delayed, so I'm not expecting it until sometime in December.

Is that the game where you shoot a portal on the ground or wherever and shoot where you come out at? I think I saw a video of it or something

Played it last night, extremely fun and entertaining, but way too short. Yet, there are some advanced puzzles you can try, some of those are quite the pain.

Well I just thought about this: It's Steam / Valve.... Maybe mods / updates will come out in the future?

well, not really. If anyone has actually been interested in the HL/ HL2 series, you will see that mods come out of the main series not mods of the series. So like HL=Sven Co-op and HL2=Portals.
this will not happen most likely HL2=Portals=New Mod. but hopefully someone will make one.

ah. I do have HL2 but only played through single player. (Have Deathmatch and Lostcoast as well) so I'll take a look, but I think I'll wait on the buy for Portal
