Well, when this PC was bought about 6 months ago, it was essentially a good PC to get around especially surfing th web and homework since it comes with 2G of RAM and a C2D processor. although it came with Vista Premium, still runs very well.
Problem is, the graphics is integrated and here are the specs:

Question is, should I upgrade to a 7600GT. Reason is because my power supply is 300W and close to it is, a 7600GT can withstand it.

I am currently using the 7600Gt and its doing very well. There is a big difference with the Gt and Gs, Gt is way better. I think you made a good choice. However just because its recommended power is 300W, and you have 300W the power supply can be a problem later on. Especially if the power supply came with the computer. Then again it might be fine. Just keep that in mind.

Check to make sure you have a PCI Express x16 slot available, many computers will NOT include one when you get integrated graphics. This is different then a PCI slot, it MUST be PCI express x16 or 16x, too tired to remember correctly

That is true. However my little brothers 1 year or more old bought computer had integrated video card but still had a Pci-Express slot. Google an image to see the difference between Pci-Express and an Agp. It shouldn't be too difficult to tell the difference.

Ty for the tips, I still thinking if it will be a definite improvement, of course my comp has a x16 slot, for $90, I could buy it but only if it really gives a definite performance.
Hoping to try out this card on CS:S and MAYBE WoW (using a friends acct), ideas if the 7600GT can handle both of those games?

Of course it can handle those games. I am using it and can play Battlefield 2 in High mode on multiplayer with 64 people.
My little brother is playing Wow on a 7300Gt too.

I myself prefer the 320mb card of the 8800GTS. It's a budget price for the performance it gives. Really it will depend on the games you play it for. Vista is already using more of your system resource than necessary and most builder guides suggest 4gb ram for it. as where XP only needs 2gb ram for similar perfromance.

Ty for the help, but I do not have $300 to dish out for a video card, only a good budget card like a 7600GT. Plus, 2G works fine on my system, not gonna play games on all max settings, just to play more games then the outdated ones

Thats correct. If the biggest thing your gonna play is Wow and Cs:S, you seriously don't need anything higher than 7600GT. You will notice no differences. Unless you use a Tv instead of your monitor and hack the resolution to be extremely high.

Sorry I didnt read what amount of budget you wanted to stay in. the 8600gt and 8500gt i read are built for budget

His power supply wouldn't do well with an 8000 series card and he'll get much better performance for the price from a 7000 series. Only reason I'd suggest an 8000 card to him is if he wanted a DX10 card.

ya i was just thinking that the dx10 would help him with any newer games or so.

Most newer games will run in DX9 just with less shaders, not a big deal.

Would but I would need the card $270 + a new power supply $50 = $320 and I don't have that kind of money.

UPDATE: Decided not to buy new card. I'm probably will opt for a new laptop in the future. Then this PC will need a upgrade. once prices go down, might buy new card.

My buddy just ordered an 8800 GT and it works great for him, I'm thinking it might replace my 7800.

they overheat pretty bad when you overclock. i have the xfx alpha dog (670 mhz edition) and at factory overclocked speeds runs at aorund 50-55C idle and gets up to 85C under load. i have heard of 8800GT temperatures reaching up to 120C. if you're buying any 8800 card, i'd say get the new G92 core 8800GTS. they have 512MB and 1GB VRAM variants.

Lol well yea the lower idle for less noise has a catch of giving a higher temp under full load. Im sure having a full case via a micro atx would allow more air flow and less temp like low 80's while playing crysis. Unlike the GTX model with is noisy from running harder at idle to control temp under load even tho most enthusiasts but some kind of gpu cooler on it. But skip the new 8800 gts and get the 8800gt 1 gb card if the larger amount is what you seek seeing at the gts card isnt released for another week or so.

But your comment was more for the 8800gts which out frames the 8800gt for the cost of atleast $100 more. The increase of speed over it depends on the game you play. 7% to 38% gains are made. Oh and it still hits over 80 degrees in stress temp. So the only difference isa slight gain in speed for more money and maybe once released actual availability. Since the 8800gt is hard to find on shelves atm.
