Need Help
#1
Ok so i recently went out and bought a new video card cause my computer only had onboard video so i got myself a Sapphire HD 2600 pro, now my problem is on the box it says it requires a 400 watt power supply, but my power supply is only 220w and the power supply i bought doesnt fit in my case (XCCube T_T) now my friend said it would be fine with just the 220 watt PS but im not sure, what should i do?

get another power supply that will fit your case. not a good idea to take a chance on poor power supply harming your gear. also you will suffer performace with the underpower supply you currently have.

what case/tower do you have or use now??

http://www.itreviews.co.uk/graphics/norm...e/h520.jpg right there is a link to the case i have right now, im thinking of using a 400w power supply but having it outside the case since it wont fit inside, because im not sure if my motherboard would fit inside another case, would that work?

Your friend is an idiot, get the right size PSU thats 400watts min. PSU is in my book more important then ram or processor.

Not enough power can result in your computer not booting up, not turning on, or can even damage your hardware. Now I'm not saying with every few upgrades you need a new power supply. I can run many things with lower than required power, however you need a good power supply.

But judging from the sound of it. Your computer with an integrated graphics card to an upgraded HD video card. I'm sure you need a much higher power supply. 220 is also incredibly low.

well If you dont want to spend much you can try this one Newegg.com - Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply 115/230 V - Retail

I'd suggest 500-650 range for a few bucks more but thats just what i would do
