Thyvene said at the European forums of World of Warcraft that the legendary ranged weapon revealed in BlizzCon 2007 will be added soon. The French Blizzard community manager says that it will be a drop from a high level boss, though the weapon type, ETA, and assigned boss hasn't been fully confirmed.
There's speculation that the new drop could be added with patch version 2.4 of World of Warcraft, and that the target boss will be one available at the Sunwell Plateau. This would jive well with the revelations at last year's BlizzCon, where it was said that the legendary ranged weapon would be available by the next raid content.
Will the weapon be a bow? It's highly likely, as previous conversations with Blizzard community managers have often hinted at bows. Unfortunately, it may not be class or race favorable, as some speculators spell out. It narrows down the weapon to just a few possibilities, and many believe it could be a crossbow of legendary proportions.
But as these are only speculations, we'll have to wait for official confirmation. More on that as we get them.
