According to Blizzard, companies which sell WoW gold to players actually steal the gold from players - that is, the companies hack into players accounts, grab the loot and then sell them to other players for a fee. Apparently, these are the very same accounts that players entrusted to power-leveling services in the past.
Blizzard's main point is this: gold-buying is ultimately a lose-lose situation for all WoW players concerned. Players are deprived of what is rightfully theirs, other players end up with hacked items and gold and the World of Warcraft game environment suffers from stability issues and an inflated economy.
Thus, Blizzard has again urged players not to support these services by reiterating:
Selling gold for real money and having characters power-leveled are violations of our Terms of Use and End User License Agreement, and we regularly take corrective action when we find that these services have been used.
