d2loader and Eastern Sun mod

Hello everyone!

I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now and I need your help - maybe someone will have figured it out.

I refuse to play D2 without Eastern Sun, I just can't stand the limited storage space and the lack of other functionalities. I have the original Diablo2+LOD CDs, and I can play whenever I want with the CDs... But I use my laptop to play, and I want to stop using the CD for two reasons:
1. Reduce usage of my CD/DVD/CDR drive (which is expensive to replace)
2. Reduce battery usage (even though not much runs from the CD, it does read it regularly)

So I'm trying to find a no-cd solution, and d2loader seems to be the only possible solution according to the ES page... Unfortunatley, neither the page itself nore any google results give precise instructions on how to make it work.

There were possibilities, one of them being to copy the patch_d2.mpq from the ES folder to the regular D2 folder... That partially works, I have the changed backgrounds, loading screen... But that's it. Inside the game the graphics for storage and stash changed but it "works" just as the regular game (e.g. the armor/weap slots haven't changed place and I cannot use more than the regular storage space), and the ES starting equipment isn't there, etc.

I've also tried just putting d2loader for 1.11b in the ES folder but it doesn't recognize the game.exe file (says it's the wrong version).

There's a forum post somewhere indicating a way to do it with "-direct -txt" but says "I won't tell you how to do it"... And all other forums bans anyone that asks about d2loader.

So I'm asking you if you can tell me how to finally get this to work!!! I will then post a guide for everyone on google-spidered pages.

You can't use d2loader to play without the game anymore. D2loader is now just for being able to run multiple copies.

If you lost the cd, or don't have a working cd drive, download the cd iso image, and mount it using a virtual driver program such as power iso or Alcohol 120%

Also, do you know that to get infinite storage space in your stash you can use PlugY? I assume that using ES you play either single player or open. PlugY gives you unlimited storage space and also lets you reverse spent skills/stats, use ladder runewords, and a host of other goodies. It's in this thread if you want to take a look:

Yoshi, I've got the CD mounted with Daemon Tools already, but I'll try PowerISO and Alcohool 120% just in case.

Hellsing, Eastern Sun not only includes PlugY but ads a ****load of cubing recipes, awesome weapons, new maps like Lost Farm and the Fake Note factory... It's just more awesome. Nothing compares to it.

hmn, doesn't work with either. I have the original CD that I ripped to an ISO using MagicISO, but whatever I do I cannot get Eastern Sun to run with d2loader or with a virtual drive mounted.

Is there anything I'm missing here? Maybe if I use an older version of ES and D2Loader?

thanks lucas for utting this post i'm the same to you try every thing to cheat eastern sun and no way and at last i have to copy the eastern sun mpq file to the game directory it give me some taste tell act 4 then no way to resume the game to kill the boss at end what can i say to you all guys here did not understand us
i use hacked version of the game and play all modes with it except eastern sun which is the most most most excellent mode ever made
can any one here her help us to hack or cheat this mode
we do not need any stubid replies
go directly to the problem solve we do not need any jerks here

Hey hey now, even though I'd appreciate to know how to do it, I don't endorse your kind of attitude, Safod. There are rules that need to be followed and calling people stupid because they are following it is not the way to go.

I've decided to stop playing ES for a while because most of my friends are on WoW, and in a small part because there is no way to run this without constantly taxing my CD-ROM drive. That's the reason for NO-CD hacks, believe it or not.
