Best way to go with a barb?

I'm thinking about starting a Barb soon and I just wanna know whats the best way to go with a barb? Skills/Stats or a good guide somewhere would really help Thanks

Well it all depends on your playing style like with most builds. If you like to take out monsters one at a time but have huge defense yourself then the concentrate variant is a good choice. If you like a bit of crowd control then the whirlwind varaint is good. Last but not least if you like the idea of weilding two weapons then frenzy is a good one.

Anyhoo, the following are build ideas for the above variants.

Concentrare baba:
- 20 Concentrate
- 20 Battle Orders
- 20 Shout
- 20 Weapon Mastery, here you can max any mastery of your choice but I would say axe mastery for the concentrate baba would be the best choice because of their hugh damage output and the ability to craft blood weapons with berserker axes. (nice damage)
- 1 in pereq's
Rest into Bash for synergy purposes only.

Stats:
- Str, enough to wear gear
- Dex, enough for max block
- Vita, rest of points go here
- Energy, none

Whirlwind baba:
- 20 Whirlwind
- 20 Weapon Mastery, again you can max any mastery for a whirler but I would either max mace mastery to weild two handed mauls or sword mastery and go dual wielding whirler. But it is all upto the players playing style.
- 20 Battle Orders
- 20 Shout
- 1 in pereq's
Rest of skils points can go where ever you want.

Stats:
- Str, enough for gear or 187 if you want to go immortal king whirler.
- Dex, here you have a few options; either base if you want to go maul or immortal king whirler. Enough for weapons if you plan to weild two swords or sword and shield. If you plan to wield a shield then enough for max block. Basically, with a whirlwind barbarian you can whirlwind with any weapon setup.
- Vit, rest of points go here
- Energy, again none

Frenzy baba:
Iron build
- 20 Frenzy
- 20 Battle Orders
- 20 Shout
- 20 Sword Mastery

Singing build
- 20 Frenzy
- 20 Battle Orders
- 20 Sword Mastery
- 10 Double Swing
- 10 Taunt
- 10 War Cry

Max damage build
- 20 Frenzy
- 20 Battle orders
- 20 Taunt/Double Swing
- 20 Sword Mastery
- 10 Double Swing/Taunt

It's upto you which build you go for, first two builds are probably safer due to warcries but Max Damage variant could be interesting. Again it's all down to your playstyle.

Stats:
- Str, between 120 - 160, but again enough for equipment. (some of the more powerful swords have high str requirements)
- Dex, between 80 - 120, all depends on your equipment and +stats gear.
- Vit, rest of points go here
- Energy, like all baba builds none

Well, there's a quick run down on the different baba variants. Ofcourse there is the singer, berserker and throwing baba's but I don't realy know much about them and the berserker is very item dependant out of all the baba builds. Hope this helps you decide which baba you wish to make.

Well, I just did a quick skills test on the singer variant using the skill planner and you can get upto 800 damage or so with maxed warcry and synergies. But, in my opinion they will require alot of +skills to boost the damage warcry does and a few points into energy and some +mana, mana regen equipment in order to avoid that mana pool from emptying. But if you have the equipment then singer might easily be a good candadate in terms of "safest" build against concentrate. Also, singers seem fun utilizing their different warcries n combat and they are very versatile due to the fact that alot of the warcries synergise each other and also combat skills. i.e, taunt and frenzy, warcry and stun, battle orders and concentrate, both howl and shout synergise berserk. Talk about versatility. :p

deck out a singer with 2 wizspikes and a couple other things like 2 sojs, upgraded frostburn, and other equip that gives plus to skills and faster cast rate.

Well I tend to do well with the barbs I make, maybe I can help as well.
Hmm, usually I have dual Lightsabres ( yes I am old fashioned, I still haven't gotten into the 1.10 universe.. ) but besides items, I usually do a pattern of 10 str, 5 dex, 5 vit (and maybe alternate with vitality.) I've been successful making a barb without putting a point into energy, although I doubt I am the only one. Here's a skill layout:

WW/ Zerk Barb:
5-10 pts in Shout
20 Battle Cry
1-2 pts in Battle Command (not much needed here..)

If you plan to go S/S then I suggest you put at least.. oh say.. 3-5 points into Double Swing, and let the + skills do the rest.

5-10 to Beserk ( needed for the Hell guys.. dang Phys Immunes)
15-20 Whirlwind.


Now I know mine sounds very old, but I think it would work well, if you're just starting out as a Barbarian, and you don't have all those elite items like BOTD and such.. Have fun.

Thanks everyone, Navra's you make your barbs almost the exact same I did when I played in 1.09 haha so close its freaky actually. That's probably how I'll make mine just wanted everyones opinion because I'm new to 1.10.

Sorry about the double post. I've decided to make a barb using full IK set because I'm not rich and IK is almost attainable and others are talking about IK barbs so they must be half solid? If they arent someone plz tell me before I screw my barb up haha. So if any of you know a good guide for IK barbs plz let me know, I'm gonna search the forums but not for long becuase I'm so tired haha. Thanks everyone.

Well if you using IK Set, make a WW/Conc barb

Max WW
Max Conc
Max Bo
Max Mace Mastery
Rest into Shout/Iron Skin
1 into Berzerk
1 or more into Natural Res(Depending on res)

Your gonna need alot of str for IK Armor, so put as little into str as possible but still high enough to use armor, get about 125 or more into dex and rest into Vita, also make sure your IK Set is ALL 1.10[1.10 armor has 1001 Def]

A barb is the best char for a new player, they are the easiest to use and you can learn a lot about the game from making them, at least that is what i think.

I'm not new to the game I played a lot in 1.09 but then quit until now. I just like to make a barb, they are fun

Why make a barb? Hmm...I'll try to think of a few reasons. First, for ez kill mf. My mf barb has about 700 mf when he switches to double 2istd babas. I prefer sorcs for mf, but a barb can do pretty well (think of all the 1400+ mf barbs in .09)....and 1700+ mf when ppl got bug mf sc's. Second, for a good pvm character. Barbs don't die unless they hit doom knights, let's admit that. Plus they kill super-fast. Third, for BO strategies...but you (grey Fox) covered that. Fourth, for pvp...you covered that too. Fifth, someone else said that they are great learner characters. Indeed. Sixth, if you play hardcore. Good luck lvling 99 chars that aren't barbs (it's about 3x harder, I'd guess). Seventh, good old fashion fun. Barbs are manly and have kool skills. Hopefully that inspires a bit of barb-building. That being said, most of my barbs are mules. :p
