Found this site looking for a 1.12a Char Editor, i dont belive any are out yet and ive tried useing several of the old ones for 1.11b, but alas they dont work. So i was wondering if anyone has plans for releaseing one for 1.12 or has D2 mostly died down? Sorry if the question i ask is n00bish or whatever, or has already been asked and answered, yes im too lazy to use the search button.
Anyway thanks for any replies, flames or not.

Hmm, I am surpr1sed that Hero Editor doesn't work on 1.12, because AFAIK there really wasn't much changed (don't think there was any change) to the 1.11b code, but thanks for mentioning that the others here don't work. I would say your best bet is to try Googling it to see if any work, and if they do feel free to share so the download can be added to this site.

Ive already let Spitfire know about possible incompatabilities with 1.12a and most, if not all of the 1.11b Editors. Ive got about 4 Editors that say they work with 1.11b and so far 2 dont open the character files correctly, and 2 of them the changes appear to have no effect in game. Hero Editor v0.96 and UdieToo both appear to work with opening and editing, but when you get back in game nothing has actually changed. When i opened the edited character file that the changes had no effect in UdieToo again, all the changes i made were still there, but didnt appear in game.
Im no pro at any of this stuff, im not sure what the problem is, but i will definently keep my eyes open and ill let you guys know if i find anything new.
Update - Both Hero Editor v0.96 and UdieToo DO work for 1.12a. My problem was the piece of crap OS known as Vista. First i had to add rights to myself for the Diablo 2 folder, and of course as with all programs i had to chnge capatability and run as admin. So yeah they work...man i hate Vista.

Just tried Hero editor 0.96, it seems, it isn't working very well with 1.12a, since it can't identify some items (usually set items) for me and deletes them from the inventory. And it seems that it's processing those items "that cannot be found" for ages.

0.96 is working fine for me and I don't see much problems, only the set ones... Just gotta be careful what you throw into your character. And it should be fine.

Hey, do these editors work for LoD as well? I don't hack much or use hacks that often so I don't know.

I hate to say this, but does anyone else feel like they have been 'punked' by Blizzard with this 1.12a update? It doesn't get rid of the necessity to have a CD in the drive (I've copied EVERY single file from my LOD disk to my Diablo II directory, and it still wants me to have the LOD disk inserted) on both my mothballed Windows XP and everyday-use Windows Vista system.
Now, we find out that they have changed something in the character files so that Character Editors like Hero Editor v0.96 doesn't work with the new 1.12a patch...... I'm absolutely disgusted, in all honesty, and I sent them an e-mail asking them to stop falsely advertising this update as removing the CD protection and allowing you to go 'disk-free'.
I've talked with people on other forums, and it looks like the people who made Character Editors or were good at doing it without a Character Editor program are having to relearn how to do it in 1.12a all over again, because of the changes that were made.
It seems like Blizzard is trying to tell people "Go out, install this update...... SUCKERS! It breaks every single program hack/cheat out there!"

I am lacking in the required post count on this site to post a URL. I am sorry that I did not know this and I will make an effort to correct this.

That's odd, I copied the files it said in the patch, ran it without the CD, and it went perfectly fine. You sure you picked the correct files? D2music.mpq and D2xmusic.mpq. Those are the only two files I put into my directory, and it worked well.

Yep, I copied those two files to my Diablo 2 folder. I honestly think that on some systems, it doesn't realize those two files are in the folder.
Edit: I take back everything I said in earlier postings. I found out what the problem was: the D2xTalk.mpq file wasn't in the directory (I finally got smart and copied EVERY .mpq file to the directory, including the setup.mpq).
Blizzard is right: their No-CD patch does work, and since that does work, I cannot get on their case for it anymore.
Sent an e-mail apologizing to Blizzard, and recommending that they add that file to the list of the ones that should be manually copied to the installation directory.

I can't seem to get v.96 to work with patch 1.12. I can open characters, but I get a long list of errors as just about everything in the character's inventory is deleted.
-However I edit my character, my str/dex/end/energy get messed up (usually setting dexterity to 0)
-I can edit skills and waypoints just fine (though my stats still get messed up)
-If I edit my inventory by doing anything other than adding gems or specific runes, the character becomes unplayable
-If I edit my mercenary to 99 from 1, his/her level is set set to 45, and the HP remains level 1.
-If I edit my gold, experience, level, or just about anything else (other than my str, dex, end, and energy) the game crashes. When it doesn't' crash, the values I put in are different than the values that actually change. For example, when I put in 100 for strength, it comes out 64 in game.
Maybe some sort of hex conversion isn't happening correctly? Is there any way to fix this problem?
