Im Christian, why arent you?
Siris Wrote:@Mushroom and Notherly. Why are you two even posting.

Dunno what Mushroom wrote. Not affiliated. blank:

Siris Wrote:You are not even discussing anything.

Uhh, oh ... you made a funny? laugh:

Siris Wrote:You are the one who is being belligerent and insulting.

I can point fingers and append negative labels to people without an ounce of supportive evidence too. laugh:

Siris Wrote:Especially for one as new as you notherly should start off like that. That's all I'm going to say on that matter.

So, what you are saying is, in a debate thread, I'm not supposed to be honest. Instead, I am to kiss as$ and wait until my seniority surpasses yours (impossible since you joined first) before I can express my opinion?

Quite the welcome, but I guess you own the show. :p

Still hoping the OP answers my question.
Japo hasn't posted in a few months, I don't think. The chances of him answering your question any time soon are slim.

No one said you had no right to debate or dissagree.Taking the stance you did in such an arrogant manner drew you some heat,as I am sure you were well aware it would.
Debate all you want, but don't expect us to kiss YOUR ass either.

Not disputing that.

My detailed post, or my initial post?
I can understand my initial post receiving flak, but my detailed post is fine.

Pamela Wrote:Debate all you want, but don't expect us to kiss YOUR ass either.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

While waiting for the OP to answer the question, let me address the masses with the same question.

"Why do you believe in a supernatural diety?"
"I'm an agnostic atheist, why aren't you?"

One response can address both.
I hope he does respond since he started this.I see that you embrace different views and ideas and, personally,I admire that.

Your detailed post was fine and well made,no argument from me on that.
I love how Siris and Skye responded. Both with differing views, yet both with conviction and passion and backed up with real life experience in WHY they feel that way.

I joined this discussion because I have actually been having a religious discussion at work. I am find views of the muslims to be a bit more correct then Christianity. It's a big step to take. But the main questions are: Was Jesus THE son of god, that is was he really god or was he another prophet with a higher purpose then the other prophets. They also suggest that he wasn't really crucified. I am trying to find evidence to support both sides.

Also anyone want proof of the book of Exodus I invite you to watch The Exodus Decoded. It was a special documentory air by the History Channel.

Thea lot of religions out there that have admirable qualities. Much of them have adopted or appropriated their values from humanity.

Do you think there might be something the muslim diety, or just the muslim lifestyle?

Islam conducts female circumcision rituals, as do many faiths in Africa. I am unfamiliar with how the Muslim faith treats this. It sounds like you have a more credible source than I do.

Feb. 6th is the International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation, but like Christmas, it should be everyday.
There are a few Islam religions. The one I am refering to is the religion that is actually very similar to 7th day adventist christians (which is what I am). the few diferences in belief is the questions I pointed out. Now as how they conduct there lifestyle I have yet to study that.

Lol, do you ever say something that isn't ridiculous?

Oh, that's weird. I also heard that Feb. 6th is the International Day Against Boiling People Alive.

Yeah. I agree that every day should be a day against atrocities.

I don't know. I read Richard Dawkins' book, The God Delusion, and he made a pretty good point in that, in a debate, religion takes on this quality that it must be talked about with utmost respect, and people should walk on eggshells as to not offend people of that religion. And I honestly believe that's bullshit. People are going to get offended, they need to get used to it, and refusing to talk to someone that is "offending" them is a sad cop-out.

EDIT: Btw, well-played, Notherly. Tongue
The title of this thread is the most arrogant thing I have seen in this whole discussion.

Nice spin doctor. That's not what he said at all.
If you are curious, you can ask him.

Thanks Sarcasm ... ?

I'm pleased, a fellow reader of TGD.

It's quite true, it's a one way condescending attitude. That's faith.
Faith is inherently, condescending. The act or thinking that one is superior to another.

Take a fanatic for example - "You are not my inferior, you are just where I was. I was confused, and then I found god."
... con-de-scen-ding. People without a faith are the only ones who can say "I could be wrong."

There isn't any option around it, and if there were, one would be accepting that there is a chance their religion is wrong, and that goes against faith. Catch 22.

Religion kills critical thinking.

I'm expecting an angry response, but I can tell you 2 things.
1. "Steam Room! Arguments may become quite heated in here.. So if you are easily offended!, Don't Enter Smile
2. I'm prepared to prove you wrong.

I apologize for for being experimental. rolleyes:
That would be a negative /sarcasm...he starts typing and ridiculous things appear in his posts parading as actual thought.
Of course YOU don't think it is arrogant Math, because you are living in your own head...we just wish you would stay there.

If you do not want heated disscussion folks...stay out of the Steam Room and never talk religion with intollerant people.

Church's have the highest tax-free income of any organization in the world. And the fact that Christians ruled above kings and queens for ages because "God" appointed them as being superior to all who are not apart of the clergy? I'll believe it if I can see it.
the pope in the past ruled over cathiocism. now hes barely a figerhead

Deviant, that's why we now seperate Church and State. Which I believe in whole-heartedly. Not everyone is Christian, and so not everyone should be ruled as if they were, nor should the government be able to gain revenue from religious institutions.
