I wasn't one of the people really looking forward to this but I decided to pick it up anyways. PFFT some lame ass shit there. Creature creator portion is kind of cool but the game is not only rediculously easy but so many parts of it is just gay. If you want to ally with other species in the creature phase you gotta go up to them and dance and sing with them. WTF? That made me so angry that I just made my guy kill everything. Games barely fun, oh well.

I think the creature phase was a little lame but once I got to the tribal phase I had a blast.

I was watching the videos of this game when it was in creation it looked pretty awesome.. And I was going to grab it.. Is it worth it? I mean I ended up getting assassins creed played it for a day and took it back it was fun at first but became very boring and repetitive.. Don't want another game like that lol.

Spore is like that, I played it for a few days and then got bored with it. If the combat when invading a planet were better I would play this game forever...unfortunately the combat is extremely boring.

Yea, I was watching some friends play it, it just seems like the same old repetitive BS. Plus you can only install it 3 times. WTF, you buy a license not a game. Sorry, IMO that fails.

Having brought my super flying insect carnivores of doom all the way through a game, I have to say I'm not particularly impressed. It's... well, boring. It's been dumbed down to the point that literally any idiot could play and do just fine, and although I appreciate the sentiment behind such a design choice, the result is a game that really fails to be just that - a game. Oh, and they removed the vast majority of the depth involved in creature creation for the same reason, so that everyone can do it, not just the "hardcore gamers," whoever those people are. So, as a game, it's mediocre. As a simulator, even the Sims had more depth... by a lot. It's like a massive, miles-wide swimming pool that's only two feet deep.
Oh, and even though the game itself could be redeemed by the sheer scope of it all, shallowness aside, the DRM is inexcusable. 3 installs are allowed, ever. That's it. Uninstalling doesn't refund anything. So, if you buy a new computer, reformat, or even change your computer hardware too much, your game becomes an expensive decoration, unless EA Games decides to let you reactivate it after you call in and explain, in great detail, exactly why you went over the 3 install limit in the first place. And if (or, more likely, when) EA Games either A) stops supporting Spore or B) goes under or changes structure due to federal laws, you won't be able to reactive it ever, period, despite having paid $50 for it.
I don't rent games for $50, sorry.
EDIT: Oh, right, and it's worth mentioning that there seems to be some plans in the works to release expansion packs for Spore, bringing it up to its original glory that it had while being made. Chances are, there will be individual content packs for each stage of evolution, and each and every one of them will cost extra. So, you'll end up spending $200 for your three-install rental. Nice.

Yeah, that is pretty crazy 3 installs.. But you know what caused that right? I think it is cause they don't want people cracking and burning the game.. But I think that would still even happen and someone will find away to get around the 3 installs right?

Of course they did it to try and prevent piracy.
And they failed. Completely and totally. A cracked full version of the game was released before the main release, and it's pathetically easy to find a cracked version of the game. So this translates to everyone who actually paid for the game getting screwed, while those who pirated the game having no problems at all. It'll also likely cause a few people who exceed that 3 install limit naturally to turn to piracy, even though they previously never would have done it. So, not only did they fail to prevent piracy, they encouraged it. Way to go, EA.

So, I stopped playing recently. Not because of DRM, or whatever, but because there's another problem with the game - it's amazingly buggy. In fact, the last patch seems to have broken more than it fixed, at least for me. I crash randomly now, for no reason, and EA tech support has absolutely no advice for me. It's awesome.confused:
