WoW Expansion
#1
Well with the new expansion set to release on November 13th 2008 I thought I would take some time to start a discussion.

After reviewing the new talents and skills for classes which class do you think will be the new most OP class?

IMO it will be the warlock for the first little while, with Soul Link being moved down to an 11 point talent in the demonology tree it allows warlocks to not only access Siphon Life in the Affliction tree but also Unstable Affliction.

So there are going to be SL/SL/UA locks running around tearing shit up.

I am sure the Death Knight Herioc class will be OP for a while because there is no really bar to set him at but other than that the rogue DPS wise, vigor been put up the tree and reading some of the new skills just lends me towards them been overpowered.

Nah they blow ****, my deathknight used to be op, then they nerfed every skill so he's extremely crappy. Hard to see who's best on the beta atm, Spriests are pretty nasty, rogues are op atm cause mutilate is bugged and hits for like 10+k and poisons proc'n like every attack for 1+k each. And they were just called a hero class cause they are new, blizz has said hundreds of times they aren't making it any better than other classes and not calling it a hero class anymore.

I think warriors will be the most op after all the balancing is done. Being able to hold a two hander in one hand will be ridiculous.

They nerfed it a good bit, it does less dps than prot/fury hybrids and arms specs. Atm at lvl 70 my Spriest's mind flay crits for 1.2k a second. Besides Blizz said they were making Spriests the best AoE'rs in WoW.

Although Titan's Grip does look awesome it's been nerfed with a 15% hit reduction. and with the reduction of using a 2 hander already there its going to increase the need for more hit rating allowing less room to get your crit yo where it should be.

The arms tree on the other hand looks rather inticing. Bladestorm which lasts for 6 seconds and does a whielrind every second is pretty cool, and Sudden death giving you a 30% chance to allow the use of execute regardless of the targets health state is pretty OP.

The 2h hit penalty by itself is like 5% big whoop, the TG nerf was needed to make it on par with normal dual wielding, which suffers from the 15% hit reduction already. It was way too OP before, where you'd just wreck everyone without missing ever.
My spriest is doing insane dps atm, VT/SWP are hitting even harder, and I don't even have to recast SWP anymore, plus with mind flay getting a 30% boost and now crit'n my DPS is skyrocketing. Mind flay alone is doing about 1k sustained dps, and it will go up when they revert the priest nerfs like they said, Plus with the removal of priest racials I'll have a 30 cd Devo Plague tossed into the mix, increasing my dps further. Mind sear does about 2k dps on each person hit for our new AoE which is nasty. Dispersion is kinda bleh even before the nerfs but it's still good for 5's when we are targeted first, pop that and actually live for a change.
Ret pallys are doing some crazy big burst damage, able to kill full S4 warrs before Hammer of Justice ends, but that's due to some ****ed up scaling.
Assassination is becoming insane for rogues, but I can't tell how well they'll be when the faulty talents are fixed. cause atm their damage is through the roof, having mutilates crit for 10+k and poisons doing 1k+ dps.

Finally gave rogues some sort of AoE in combat tree although don't like the fact they are almost "forcing" the dagger spec on us the way the tree is done I think vigor up in the assassin tree is potent for a combat spec hybrid, and also givng the rogue some sort of raid buffing talents also will help our "useful" factor.

Well, I doubt it will be warlock.
They may be annoying in pvp but we're basically just good for killing other warlocks and mages.
Anything else can have a field day with us if they know how to play.
I'm prolly going sl/sl in the exp, I'm deep affli atm just because i find it fun.
I might **** around with full demo just for shits and giggles.
don't know much about destru realy, and i'm not geared enough atm for it.

Warlocks are broken right now, no way will they be OP in their current state.
Warriors wielding 2handers is not that OP. Our DPS warr is on PTR, dual wielding Apolyon and Cataclysm's Edge and he says that due to all the penalties, the DPS boost is not all that massive, especially because you miss out on many good talents to get it. However, we'll see how it scales with T8-9 etc.
Apparently Moonkins are going to be insane with their group scaling, a friend of mine on PTR said that you can just take 10 Moonkins into the raid because of their scaling, but let's see how that is "fixed". They like nerfing druids to oblivion when they get some power.

They just leave rogues and let us stuffer outside of raiding environments.

Rogues have been pretty deadly in PvP from what I have seen

Looks like Retribution Paladins are Unbalanced atm doing massive damage and the scaling with Boomkins seems to be out of control is going to be quite interesting to see where the balance of power lies in the different classes when things are sorted healing, dps and tank wise.

You gotta note that the current changes aren't set in stone, stuff is gonna be changing left right and centre for ages.
Warlocks seem to have been nerfed on the ptrs atm, and you should be glad you won't be seeing any sl/sl anymore.
Sad

SL/SL hasn't been good since S2, what's the obsession with it?
