Yeah it does, dude. Every vote helps.

Well, unless you live in Texas, like I do, which will probably always be red by a large margin. Doesn't stop me from voting though.

California is always Democrat but I always vote. As the 2004 election proved, every vote counts.

Nobody is going to respond to my post on Freddi Mac and Fannie Mae are they? Is it too long or do you just refuse to stop blindly blaming Bush for all your problems.

Doubtful anyone ever will respond. What do you say to hard proof that Democrat based help the poor live like the middle class ideology fails epically and played a large part in bringing about our current economic situation. That Bush and company have actually tried to prevent the landslide and were stone walled by democrats in congress.

Anyone catch the recent news regarding Obama's grand plan to excessively tax the coal industry into oblivion in the name of creating a greener America? I find it a fabulous plan to put hundreds of American's out of jobs in an already tight job market. But don't worry with Obama at the helm the government will support the now jobless coal power employees for as long as needed on the tax payers dime.

What about how Obama's aunt was located and found to be living off government assistance in government housing? Wonder why Obama has not shared his wealth with his family like he wants to share my money with everyone else?

Pretty awesome. I, too, live in Travis County now while I go to UT Austin. Do you live in Austin or nearby?

And to Obfuscate and Spoon, I would rather not. I don't have the proof nor the willingness to gather such proof to counter your arguments. Spoon, you are probably right. However, I'm concerned what the presidential candidates are willing to do about it. Neither Conservatism nor Liberalism are the right answer to things. Conservatism leans towards taking the government out of things, such as deregulating the markets, but Liberalism tries to get everybody equal treatment, regardless of income which included giving people loans that shouldn't be getting them. I'm not going to argue the point any more because I just don't know enough.

And about the coal thing... You must've been listening to Palin on that one because Obama and McCain both support very similar cap-and-trade systems, that will bankrupt coal companies... conventional coal companies. Clean coal is the right way to go. They both take essentially the same stance. Palin's speeches are so sensationalist I'm surprised she hasn't been knocked down a notch.

John McCain's Websit Wrote:John McCain Proposes A Cap-And-Trade System That Would Set Limits On Greenhouse Gas Emissions While Encouraging The Development Of Low-Cost Compliance Options. A climate cap-and-trade mechanism would set a limit on greenhouse gas emissions and allow entities to buy and sell rights to emit, similar to the successful acid rain trading program of the early 1990s. The key feature of this mechanism is that it allows the market to decide and encourage the lowest-cost compliance options.

McCain's plan doesn't say anything about bankrupting these companies though.

Also, Liberalism isn't about equal treament it's about the government controlling pretty much everything.

Nobody's plan talks about bankrupting all coal companies. It's just the cap-and-trade system makes you pay more money the worse your emissions are to discourage bad emissions. And if you ignore your pollution completely, yes, you will probably be bankrupted.

Obama was taken out of context. He talked about punishing companies that didn't give a shit about carbon to promote clean coal technology. Which won't put coal miners out of a job and would shift the workers at coal energy plants to clean coal energy plants.

And Liberalism does have to do with equality. It uses the government to make sure that everyone has a decent shot at making it big, by propping up those that aren't making enough money to support their family, nationalizing healthcare so that everyone that wants healthcare has an opportunity to get it for free or little cost, and in this case improving the school system not by giving kids vouchers to go to private schools, but supplementing the public schools as they are so they can compete, and not in some indirect way by taking money away from the schools and trying to increase competition.

Also Obama "throwing money" at the college system so that it costs the students less to go to college works in my mind, because it is the responsibility of the country to make sure kids that want to go to college can go to college to make something of themselves and ultimately affect the country in a positive way. And in order to claim the 4 thousand dollar tax credit for college, students do community service for it. Works for me.

Everyone has the chance to succeed and go to college as is. The governments job is not to prop people up, it's to protect us. WE are responsible for own lives. This is the thing about liberals is they want the government to raise their kids for them by censoring television, movies, video games, the internet. They want the government to provide them with healthcare and have it taken out of my pocket.

Did you know, that the wealthiest 1% of people in the US make close to 15% of the total profits American's bring in every year? Did you know the lowest 50% bring in almost the same percentage? Did you know that the top 1% provides around 30% of our national budget through taxes? Did you know the lower 50% provides less than 10%?

Also, money isn't the problem with the public school system, it's a lack of competition. There's no innovation and very little motivation in the public school system and that's because they can get away with it. You either send your kid to a public school or you spend $5,000+ a year on private schools.

It is all moot now anyways since Obama is the next president. Now it is a matter of waiting to see what Obama and the democratically controlled congress do. History shows that, for some reason and not policy, that the economy leaps back in a number of months after Democrats take control of the White House. It will be interesting to see if this is the same once Obama takes office.

Once Democrats take power? Didn't it leap back in Bush's first term? Didn't it leap back during Reagan's terms?
