Where is the entrance to the city of the damned?

Help!! I am new to Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction expansion disc.
I am stuck as I cannot find the entrance to the city of the damned. Where the heck is it??Please help [email protected]

Isn't that the space either you enter when you leave the Pandemonium palace or the space after that? In Act 4?

It should be beyond the Plains of Despair. You can also start from the River of Flame and go backwards (not towards Diablo, but the Hellforge route) until you find an ascending staircase. That staircase will lead you to the City of the Damned (and the wp is ussually right around those stairs).

I have just killed Azual and my next qwest is to go to the hell forge. But to get there I need to get to the city of the damned to get to the river of flame. I have searched the plains of despair over and over and cannot find the entrance.
I am trying to find that staircase to get to the river of flame. Where is it???

Yeah, the City of the Damned is after the Plains of Despair. I did a search on the Arreat Summit to make sure: The Arreat Summit - Maps: Act IV
You can see that the maps are listed in order of their appearance.

No, the Arreat Summit is a website about diablo 2.

My bad I know. I am searching thru the plains of despair for the entrance to the river of flame and where the heck is it?

Its right by the waypoint in the plains of despair. It's a staircase type thing. Also pay close attention to your automap. It'll be marked on there when you go by it.

City of the Damned*
To get to the city of the damned, scale the walls until you find a staircase type thing that you can literally walk across into the next section, then find the waypoint in the City of the Damned, and the staircase that you walk into should be right there. Which brings you to the river of flame.

What walls???
I played this version 3 years ago when it came out and went thru to the finish in all levels and am starting over again since it is such a cool game. But as i recall the stairs where in some burning lava type spot but I cannot for the life of me find it this go round. I am searching it in quadrants as I am being chased all over the place. Soooo anybody know about where in the plains of despair that the steps are so I can search there??

The plains of despairs steps are on the outside walls. It may not look like walls, but they are.
OK maybe I am not explaining myself properly. I have gone from the fortreess down the stairs to to the steppes found the stairs to get to the plains of despair killed azual and am now trying to find the stairs that lead to the river of flame(or the city of the damned) I have searched all along the outside of the complete perimeter and have found nothing. I am running out of gold to keep buying potions so I would really like to find the entrance so I can get to the waypoint.
Thanks Blue. Found it. I thought they were all cliffs and didn't check one section close enough!  |
