New Computer
#1
So i've been putting off getting a new computer for a while because i've been trying to decide whether to buy a Desktop or a laptop

after much internal conflict i decided to buy a Desktop (more bang for my buck) however i do not wish to buy it from Dell or Bestbuy (or any other similar options) and want to build one myself

that's why i've started this thread, I think i built a decent computer on NewEgg, but i'm not sure if all of the components are compatible with each other and whether or not it will be good enough to run games on (WoW and hopefully D3)

So I'm Reaching out the vast knowledge of Blizzsector for assistance!

This is my build:

-Case
-MotherBoard
-Video Card
-Ram x3
-Hard Drive
-Sound Card

what am i missing?
what should i upgrade?
Spending Limit is around $1,000
Allready have Disk Drives laying around house somewhere...

Any help would be greatly appreciatedBig Grin

your missing one very important part.
the processor.
going by what you have, you should get Newegg.com - AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
but before i get into more suggestions.. what do you want to do with this computer? school stuff? you obviously want to be able to play d3 and s2 on this im guessing

I know it's probably a little out of your price range, but you should do it anyway! And then mail it to me for freeeee!

Here's the sexy case and keyboard. Not the monitor(s) and mouse I picked, but oh well.

yeah if i had enough money to buy that beast, i would probably not send it to you for free...

maybe if you could somehow convince Jessica Alba (and or Jessica Biel) to give me a lap dance then you'd have a deal!

OH and i started doing my homework and i did pretty much a completely new build... spent about 2 hours making sure it was all, thought it was all good, printed it all out, then it turns out the Ram speed was different, so then i'd have to get a different motherboard (required speed was too expensive)

so now i gotta do it again and only 3 days till WRATH!!

WHY DO I FAIL SO MUCH!?!?!

will post new build after i fill out college app

you still havent said what you wanted to do with it.
although i did pick up a major clue.. you did mention wrath of the lich king
so my guess is that you want a computer that can play that, along with other games.

in my opinion, dont rush to order anything. since the economy is down right now, gather a list, and wait until the black friday sale. i think this year the prices will be lower than usual

Yes, Wrath of the Lich King is pretty much what i want to use it for.

I bought it the day it came out ( had it pre-ordered since february ) and have nothing to play it on!

But i suppose i could wait until black friday, that is a very good idea

that will only work depending on the stores that you have around in your area.
(i guess you could do it online as well, but im not to sure about that)

the only store that is good for black friday imo is Fry's Electronics. they actually sell pieces of a computer.
yes, best buy and ciruit city does that as well, but the selection is so limited, not to mention over priced that its generally not worth it.

so yeah....
I ended up just saying FTG after realizing that even if i got the parts completely compatible, i'd have to figure out how to put it all together and running (i have a fairly decent understanding but stil..)

so i just ended up ordering a laptop

Newegg.com - ASUS M51 Series M51TA-X2 NoteBook AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82(2.20GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA+ 4GB Memory 250GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 - Laptops / Notebooks-_-

"college" computer
