Cheap hybrid MF sorc build wanted
#1
Hi everyone, I am poor. This is the gear that was given to me by a friend:

Vipermagi 120%/32 resist (serpentskin)
Harlequin Crest Shako
Frostburn
Gheeds GC
Spirit

Found myself -

Gloom Trap
+1skill ammy
resistall 19 ammy
+1skill rare orb and +2 to fo and meteor
Using malbregas orb w that rare orb and switch is arcannas wand +1 to skills
2 nagels
etc.

so...I am at 83 and still have almost all skill points and stat points...I have been looking for a hybrid CL/FO or something similar build guide but they are all heavily item dependant...like infinity, and about 1000 skillers/torch/anni and crap i don't have (+ couldn't get). So I am looking for a hybrid mf sorc build that is cheap that I can use to do runs. I have found good guides but they all end in "and if you run into immunes with your 11k blizz/20k fb/40k CL just use a merc with infinity!" Ya so immunes would be my main problem.

So, I am looking for the best choise for ice/lite or ice/fire that is cheap enough that I can actually use it without dying. I play by myself on most mf runs so thats why immunes are a big deal to me.

Any suggestions?

I have upped str and vit a bit but stopped when I decided i didn't know what I was doing. I have 331 stat points left:

str. 62
Dex. 40
Vit. 41
nrg 47

and all skill points (havent done skill qs yet since I HAVE NO SKILLS lol) except that I put 2 pts in to get teleport = 81

Thanks for help, sorry if I am repeating questions but I have been reading forums for hours for like 3 days and have done nothing w/ my sorc. I wanna play already!

Thanks!

I would just make a blizzard sorceress. They can run andy, summoner, and mephisto with minimal gear. It seems hybrids usually require better gear to make both elements powerful enough.

Ok, point taken, you're saying that I can get by with plenty of good drops without having to worry about immunities, right?

Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Yes exactly. Your best mf targets are really andy and mephisto. Sure, you can't run eldrich, pindle, and shrenk but as long as you have andy and mephisto you should be good.

However, I have found mephisto be sort of hard with poorer gear. Usually you have to tele around like crazy and cast blizzard and hope not to die. Andy is easy, however, as you can first kill all of the minions then run around while andy cases you (she has no ranged attack that can kill you--poison doesn't kill).

Method is very important too. For andy, I usually clear the whole bottom of her room first (so I can run away from her and cast blizz without running into monsters). As you mf, you'll find a spot in that room that triggers when she comes after you. I usually walk on the spot and let her come to me so the other monsters at the top of the room stay put. I could never moat mephisto effectively, so all I can tell you is tele around and cast blizzard on him.

Getting damage high enough to make them stutter helps too. Also, get a good merc as soon as you sure up your own gear. An act2 defiance merc with insight would do you wonders (although they still die without really good gear. He'd let you get a few good hits on andy/meph before dying).

Well, I'm definitely experienced enough at the moat trick, so maybe meph won't be that big of a problem anyways. I'll probably take your advice here and when I get some wealth, go for the hybrid build as it's definitely a lot of fun at the lower levels - I just want it to be effective! So I'll probably to key runs with that down the road. Oh, wait...I'll be playing D3 then Wink

Well, i just want to update this thread to say, although I still haven't specced yet, I was given an Oculus and a sorc torch by some very generous individuals. Still don't have any skillers, but does this change anything? +4 or 5 to all skills...but still not looking at an Infinity any time soon...should I still stick with single tree cold? Is dual tree viable without leet gear?

Thanks again!

I'd Say, the cheapest is a Tal sorc, With the skills in Ice and Fire, you can run meph and andy, pindle as well. it doesn't cost all that much. It's pretty decent, I use it. The only real downfall is my sorc only has 200 some Mf. You can up it a lot if you can get your hands on a pair of war travs, get your hands on a Gheeds, and the rest with Mf Sc. would go up pretty nice. The best mf % is between 300-400. Nothing higher. If your interested in the build, Send me a message.
