I lol'ed when i read this part. Especially the baboon part {I gotten a nice mental image of a drug infested red-assed baboon sitting into a computer chair, scrunching it's face, and instead of using its hands to type, just simply slams its face into the keyboard}

"spelt" is the form of "spell" that is in the past perfect form. As in when you accomplished this task, it was complete and whole in the context. "Spelled" is the past imperfect form, where the spelling has been continued from the past to the current where you posted "spelt".
You used the form of "spell" that is supposed to be used for like a week ago, month ago, year ago.
