Windows 7 Beta 1
#1
Windows 7 Beta 1 was made public on the 9th of January. I had a quick look at the leaked version a couple of weeks back, but have since got the legit version and beta key. I'm now running it on my Dell 9400 Laptop 4GB ram, 7800GO, 120GB 7200RPM HDD etc. So far first impressions is that it is alot faster than Vista.

Who else is trying it out?

I should try it out on my new laptop, does this beta cost, or am I going to have to download it from the realm?

Beta is free. Just goto Welcome to Windows 7 and Click on Download the Windows 7 Beta. It will ask for a microsoft login (Hotmail) and will show the product key on the screen and give you the download link (2.5GB). Both 32bit and 64bit versions are availiable. The Beta expires August 1st, but by then you would hope there would be a Beta 2,3 etc.

Just noticed that Nvidia have already released a Pre-release driver for Windows 7 Smile Works well with the laptop Vid Card Smile

Like you said it runs faster, I used that pre-public release version you gave us on my old rig, but a bit too late I think,(I.E. most people can run vista now) the better multi-core support will be nice, but most new applications are made for multi-cores now anyway.

I probably will get the 64 bit and run it on my new rig just to compare to vista. I have an extra 120 gig partition I could put it on.

Still, they better like, BLOW MY MIND, to get me to buy this.

The loading status in the taskbar is a neat feature.
