The following is my little guide to what race/class to choose when starting new in World of Warcraft. All of this information is off the top of my head so I will be editing it when I'm at home and on a computer where every WoW website isn't blocked. I will talk about each race and their racial bonuses and how they pair up with specific classes. This will be a work in progress and all additions will appear in this first post. However, I will make a new post to inform people of when updates occur. Feel free to post comments.
First I'll talk about the different stats (You can view all stats by pressing "c" and opening your character sheet. There are drop down menus to see your specific bonuses):
Strength (STR) - STR has several advantages for melee classes. STR increases attack power (AP) and mitigation (Damage Reduction). What does this mean? It means you hit harder and take less damage the higher your STR is.
Agility (AGI) - AGI effects more abilities than other other stat. AGI increases your chances to: Dodge, parry, block, and critically hit (Crit). On top of that AGI increases your armor value (Damage reduction) and for some classes increases AP.
Intellect (INT) - INT is a casters bread and butter. INT increases your mana pool (Does not, however, effect a Warrior's rage or Rogue's Energy pool), spell power (SP), and spell crit.
Stamina (STAM) - STAM is health (HP). Ever 1 point of STAM increases your health by 10 points.
Spirit - Spirit increases out of combat (OOC) regeneration of health and mana (Does not effect Warrior's Rage or Rogue's Energy). As an alternate many casters look for "XX Mana restored per 5 seconds" (MP5) as this will regenerate mana while in combat.
Trolls
-Regeneration - Trolls maintain 25% of their health regeneration bonus granted from spirit while in combat.
-Berserk - Trolls have an ability that increases attack speed.
-Throwing Weapons Specialization - Trolls receive a 5 weapon skill point bonus to Throwing Weapons. This means that they have a slightly increased chance to hit and gain critical strikes. At level 80 your weapon skill caps at 400 so Trolls can reach 405 Throwing Weapon skill.
-Reputation - Trolls start at "Friendly" with Orgrimmar (Orcs) and The Darkspear Trolls (Trolls, duh). Since Darkspear is one of the biggest pains to gain rep with of the Horde factions Trolls are a good choice if you really want that "Ambassador" title or Raptor mount.
-Agility - Trolls have the second highest starting Agility stat in the game.
[INDENT]Troll Hunter
-Survivability. If you're a Beastmaster Hunter (Best for leveling) you will eventually get Spirit Bond which will provide you with an additional 2% (I think?) health regeneration. On top of that hunters have a Pet which tanks for them...so basically you'll almost never die when soloing.
-Damage - Hunters are known for high DPS (Damage Per Second) and when you combine Berserk with the Hunter's Rapid Fire ability and certain talents you will have insanely fast attacks. On top of this the slightly higher AGI gives you a slight advantage since hunters gain 1 AP per AGI.
