Technical Issues with Deleting
#1
So like my laptop is saying there're files on my computer that arnt there. For example, a while ago I had some new version of MSN on my comp, it wouldn't work so I wanted to install a previous version. Problem is, I deleted everything I could find of it. I took it off the windows components list, removed it from the "remove programs list" and I even searched all folders and deleted everything that was msn. But it still said a later version was installed when I tried to install a previous version, and when I tried to reinstall that new one, it said it was already installed.

Then, I wanted to install kaspersky, but apparently mcafee was installed. So I searched all folders and removed it from the program list. But yet when I try to dl kaspersky, it says its still there.

Does anyone know whats wrong?
(I restarted the computer multiple times after the msn deletion, but have yet to restart after the mcafee deletion and I emptied the recycling bin.)

hmm.
i really recommend using the uninstaller to get rid of any programs, but since you have already done this..
the old program could have left alot of junk that you may not have found through the search.
i would try running ccleaner. use that to clean the registry.

Thanks Mob so much. My kaspersky is running, however, my msn doesnt seem to be working.

I'm thinking about reformatting it and installing vista. I dont have money, or probably the technical knowledge to get windows 7 however. Sad

i have never used msn, but if the most recent version doesnt work, try installing an older one.
if that doesnt work, there is an alternative. meebo.com
it lets you log onto any im service, its free and completely web based. you dont have to install anything

I use MSN daily and stay logged in but Mob is right...I use CCleaner to wipe useless files and try to defrag. I am not a computer person...it is just what I use because I had the same issues Blue.

When I switched from laptop to desktop I had to ask MSN for my password again.
Once I did this I changed my password(to the same word) and it worked fine.

MSN just sucks.

No I mean MSN 9 didnt work whatsoever, so I deleted it, but it still says its on here. Even after the ccleaner. Is there something specifically on that I should use?

Cause it wont let me install MSN 7 until I can somehow get that off of there.
