As i was getting out of the car today (for school). I was in a rush because my mom stopped before a crosswalk and there were a few cars behind us. I went to grab my guitar but i dropped it. Maybe 4 or 5 inches from the ground it hit vertically. This was in my soft case so i thought nothing of it. But in band later that day....i saw there was a pretty bad chip in there. Extremely choked about, but theres nothing i can do. The varnish took chips of wood with it so the surface is very uneven. Ok, now i want to fix it as best as i can. I'm thinkin of repainting it the patch and perhaps the whole guitar. I was thinking twoards the eddie vanhalen look. With the stripes. I'll keep the original blue. But maybe white stripes going around every where?
Any suggestions?

the chip looks very minor. is it really a big deal? you can destroy half my computer but if it still funtions its good enough for me.. honestly i dont understand peoples reasons for crying over an obviously minor damage..

well if you can find the chip that broke off i suppose you can use a small amount of glue and stick it on and make sure it is perfectly positioned.

if you can find the original piece and glue it back on there, that would be ideal.
but if you cant find it, what i would do, is do some light sanding around and in the chipped area. that would blend it in better i think, then prime and paint it.

i do have words to say. I asked for suggestions not comments about "no sympathy". If your not a musician, you can't relate and thats fine. But don't give me crap about it. looks like math and Mob helped. Oh and i think what im going to do. is like what mob said. Sand it down (without damaging the rest!). Than fill it with something i dunno. Wood filler might change how the vibrations work. Than slowly recoat it with paint than laqeur. I was thinking white. It'd be a nice contrast i think, Just a nice white splotchy look. Make this baby unique.

NO I am not a musician, allthough my whole family played and were self taught. I sing and love music. I am sorry I was less than enthusiastic about your problem.
You have to understand that providing for 3 kids and their freinds and they ALL are in to bands and instruments leave you a bit touchy on the subject.
I can not count the instruments I have had fixed.

And like i said its totally worth it. Like 2 weeks of work go into each handmade guitar.
For people that havea true passion (not a hobby) or want to go pro. Its top of the line or nothing. Think about it for a second

im just lucky the damage wasn't on the neck of the guitar. As u can see its a one piece guitar. Glued, not bolted on. So if the neck is damaged theres an 80% chance its unrepairable. If it is repairable the cost out values the guitar often.

and i consider guitars useful because music is a big part of my life.

guitars and computers are different. computers you basically need unless your 500 years out of date, cars you need to move, no matter how shitty it is, a guitar is for entertainment which we already have way to much of.
and i lost respect for YOU because you kjust dont understand pam.
