Help reinstalling XP on Acer netbook
#1
Anybody know how to reinstall Windows on an Acer netbook or where I can download a restore disc? The computer didn't include a restore disc when purchased and when I try to reinstall Windows the computer tells me that no hdd is detected. I'm assuming that I need some special software so that it will recognize the hard drive. Anyone know?

Any ol' Acer OEM XP cd you 'find' on the net should work fine. If XP setup is saying it cant find the HDD it's normally due to it not recognising the Sata controller/chipset. You need to load the drivers at the begining of the setup when it says "press F8 (or whatever it is) to load drivers". Just whack the drivers on a USB stick. http://support.acer.com/drivers_download.aspx

EDIT: Had a look and Acer doesn't seem to use OEM dvd's just Recovery Discs which are an ass since it installs thier bloatware every time... What is your model number? will look for recovery CD.

It's labeled kav60 however from what I've seen it's actually referred to as an AOD250.
